It's safe to say that Marvel's Wolverine failed to meet player expectations. Not only did the mainstream journalists not like it, but the gamers themselves mostly hated it. Repetitive combat, linear "on rails" gameplay, and an overall setup that insults the player instead of treating them like adults. Because... of that, it is widely expected that the game will fail to meet commercial expectations as well, as people are ditching their copy of the game, trying to sell it on eBay and other platforms. In any case, it should be considered a crime for a game company to burn well over 300 million dollars to create an aggressively bad game that ends up being more like massive e-waste. The game will be remembered as another one in a long list of failed Western AAA games. I think the funniest part of this game's saga so far is how Kai Cenat was so excited for the game, had a costume made with all the bells and whistles of the background setup... only to rate it a 6/10, saying it was not good.show more

Catwoman uses a grapple gun to zip up to buildings and she has a built in wingsuit. #LegoBatmanGame We already knew this, I just wanted to see it in action in a free roam setting. I’ve started to make my peace with it somewhat. I’ve already made my peace with the wing suit, but the grapple will take and getting used to only because I think she should be able to utilize her whip as the grapple and please do not give me that thing about “it’s not long enough” she was able to utilize it in the Arkham games (please see my attached screenshot reference of me literally playing Arkham city right now and the whip length) and it didn’t even properly wrap around things and the length was inconsistent when she used it to get to the top of buildings I’m not saying that she needs to be able to scale the buildings like she doesn’t ask them because I understand the movement will not work like that in this game giving the open world, but it will be very nice if her grapple to zip up to buildings was replaced with her whip. It’s a Lego game who cares about the inconsistent lengths of the whip? Regardless, I am super super excited and I cannot wait to get this game in my hands on the 19th

It was shots like those that made many of us fall in love with cricket! He was not just a player, he was a golden dream that the game of cricket saw and it lasted for 24 long years. He conquered just about everything and gave all the cricket fans so many moments to cherish, to feel proud of, to rejoice. He was the hope for an ordinary Indian man in the 90s and that line "when Sachin walked out to bat, people switched on their TV sets and switched off their lives" sums up the amount of impact he had. He was, he is and he will always be an emotion!! ❤️🙏

The animated scene of the new background + logo is so lovely. They didn't have to make it but they did and I think that reflects the level of extra care that is going into the game now. For the first time in a long time, the future of the game is bright.

Very pleasantly surprised to discover Cursor cloud agents can playtest the godot game I built. See the (sped up) video below of the agent playtesting the game. As I was watching it play the game, I can see the agent slowly learn how the game works and familiarise with the game's UI. I also realised that the agent is a very 'safe' player, choosing to play very safely and retreating from battle if it foresees it can't defeat. Very interesting to see. I wonder if I could simulate different game playtester behaviours that mimic different types of real-world player archetypes. With agentic playtesting, this means that the agents are able to provide actual gameplay feedback and suggestions to improve the game, having played the game itself. This unlocks a whole lot of possibilities for AI-assisted game dev, since it closes the playtest loop. This feels like the future of recursive game development, where agents can now recursively build > playtest > improve the games they are working on. Thanks edwin for letting me know that these agents can actually playtest games, not just software! Very excited to dig deeper to see what I can do with these agents with computer access!

$Jason Schreier reports that Last Sentinel, an open-word scifi game developed by former Rockstar veterans and designed to compete with GTA 6, has been rebooted and most likely cancelled by Tencent after they spent 6 years and hundreds of millions on it. Tencent decided not to move forward with the project, as it didn’t feel like a Rockstar game. It was janky and didn’t hit the quality bar that Tencent executives expected. ⚔️ Kingdom Come Deliverance first impressions ⚔️ Loving it so far, basically a medieval detective simulator that really doesn't care that you are the main character. And I'm all here for it. ▪️The WORLD is the real star of the show here and even though it's got plenty of jank and lots of copy and paste NPC faces, it just feels so IMMERSIVE. Even the UI just transports me to the times with a bright colourful medieval art style. ▪️The MUSIC I love, absolutely sells the world and basically ASMR as you trot around on your horse through the world. ▪️THE Combat is a real interesting one, it's got quite the learning curve which I actually LIKE, it definitely has some jank to it as well but I really appreciate the attempt at an original and nuanced combat system. (Having to stop your bleeding with bandages is really cool) ▪️The Story has gripped me (19 hours in so far) And while it seems a simple revenge story on the face of it, I think the story is more about Henry making his way through the world after the horrors of Skallitz. The writing quality is top notch as well as the quest design also. ▪️The CHARACTERS are amazing and the humour is top notch. I'm not sure the last time I laughed so much at a game. Henry is great and so well voiced by Tom McKay This really feels like Warhorse Studios have put a lot of love and work into making an authentic medieval world and as a bit of a medieval nerd I can't get enough of this game. A True RPG as well by all accounts, the game really makes me think hard about how to approach situations. Also I can't wait to get to KCD2.

Realizing people might not have realized that by "flower game" I mean this end screen is a DIRECT reference to the book of unveiling in Destiny 2, which itself refers to a modified version of John Horton Conway's Game of Life; the book refers to this as The Flower Game, a zero-player game where the only move is the initial set up of the pieces and their behaviors. I think if this Durandal is the one from the end of Marathon Infinity, then perhaps he's found a way to influence the Flower Game, and is using that influence to re-write the universe to create a reality that allows his escape from reality itself.

You see whining about "clunky" old games because old games lack the player assists found in newgen games, which are literally designed for actual idiots on the assumption that the average player won't be able to learn how the game works for themselves. Almost every action game now has: >strong autotracking on attacks >tons of i-frames >no "checkmate" situations that are unrecoverable; endless mulligans so the player sees "you died/game over" as little as possible >no lives, timers, scoring, or any other hard constraints on the player; failure doesn't cost anything >multi-step actions triggered by single button presses like sliding/dashing to go faster, instant takedowns, etc; no need to combine multiple actions or learn any techniques like crouchjumping, bhopping, rocket/grenade jumping >"cinematic" boss fights where the core gameplay may be totally absent and the "fight" is relegated to QTEs >strong enemy leashing that keeps enemies in tiny areas, allowing you to whittle them down with no risk They are deliberately designing games to place as few expectations on the player as possible and when someone who has only experienced these new games is shown an old game without these "quality of life" features, they call it "clunky" because the game is designed to actually be played by the player.

Since Chicago is intent on putting a fresh coat of paint on the urban "workers' paradise" might as well fold in an updated East German version now that the right people are in charge to make it work.

I watched Robot on the Road and honestly I did not really know what to expect going in At the beginning it just feels like a pretty normal little road trip setup with this robot hitchhiking around Japan and it almost gives off a chill slice of life vibe But it does not stay like that for long The more it goes on the more you realize the robot is doing some really questionable stuff and the way it focuses on women without their consent makes the whole thing feel really uncomfortable By the end I was not really sure if I was supposed to find it funny or just feel weird about it Overall it feels like one of those shorts that tries to mix dark humor with awkward situations but it mostly just ends up being unsettling
