It’s Time to Shift Mindsets: Every Active Shooter Is a Potential Suicide Bomber Be wary of black puffer coats as they’re one of the easiest garments to conceal bombs inside, and Al-Qaeda has shown that repeatedly, including in their December 2023 video teasing their upcoming homeland plot. What to Watch for When You Fly: Doing Your Part to Keep America Safe As the holiday travel season approaches, every traveler can play a part in helping to thwart al-Qaeda’s upcoming aviation plot. Pre-attack surveillance often shows up days or weeks beforehand and then later in the season we will must shift our focus to watching for active threats. (1) Now through mid-December—watch for pre-attack surveillance and dry runs: -Passengers asking unusual or technical questions about crew, routes, or procedures. -Interest in sitting along the fuselage or near service areas. -Repeatedly accessing overhead bins or restrooms without reason; lingering near service carts. -Attempts to enter unauthorized areas of the airport or on the aircraft (including cockpit approaches). -Multiple boarding passes purchased under similar names/itineraries, often paid in cash. -Scouting trips on domestic routes to observe security routines. -Recording security and screening in procedures in the airport. -Testing crew responses by creating small disturbances or lingering near secured areas. -Anti-American remarks, isolating behavior, or attempts to avoid other passengers. -Unattended packages or bags — don’t ignore them. Please if you see something, say something. (2) Starting at the beginning of the Christmas travel season shift focus to signs of a possible suicide bomber or imminent attack: -Attempts to avoid or opt-out of the millimeter wave scanner. -Odd items on scanning belt including items like syringes; watch also inside the plane. -Lack of luggage or round trip travel. -Signs of drug use, particularly Ecstasy. -Erratic behavior or, conversely, an unnaturally calm, detached demeanor. -Visible physical stress signs: jugular vein extension (neck bulging), profuse sweating, clenched jaw, clenched fists, muscle rigidity, pacing. -Target fixation—obsessively looking at crew, flight deck doors, or passengers who appear to be law enforcement or military (“1,000-yard” stare). -Repeatedly touching or adjusting the same spot on clothing/body. -Watch for lines, bulging and sagging in clothing; attacker may also look at self in reflections throughout the airport for fear the bomb is visual. -Hyper sensitivity over an article of clothing on their body. -Visible burns, chemical marks, or other unexplained injuries on the skin. -Frequent self-reassuring gestures, whispered prayers, or profuse swearing combined with agitation. Trust your instincts. If something feels off, report it calmly to crew, airport security, or call 911 you may stop an attack before it ever begins. Note: The clip below related to the 2006 liquid bomb plot is a reminder that we haven’t seen attacks like these over the years because incredible humans have been stepped up and thwarted them. We need heroes like that again. Do your part!

//The Wire//2300Z October 2, 2025// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: TERROR ATTACK STRIKES MANCHESTER. FAKE ACTIVE SHOOTER CALLED IN AT NEW JERSEY MILITARY BASE. BOMB THREAT DISRUPTS SERVICES AT MIAMI CHURCH.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- United Kingdom: This morning a complex terror attack was carried out in Manchester. One assailant began the initial phase of the attack by ramming his vehicle into the perimeter fence at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. Once the vehicle came to a halt, the attacker exited the vehicle and attempted to gain entry to the facility. Police were immediately on scene, and as the crowd scattered, police were able to corner the assailant. The attacker attempted to detonate a suicide belt that he was wearing, but the S-Belt did not explode (the belt was determined later to be either fake or not a viable explosive). A few moments later, the suspect was shot by armed police, ending the attack. Concerning casualties, 2x people were killed and 3x others wounded during the attack. Analyst Comment: The attacker (who has not yet been identified) was probably targeting Yom Kippur events (which is today). Some time after the incident, two other individuals were reportedly arrested in conjunction with this incident a short distance from the initial attack site. However the status of these individuals is unknown, along with how these arrests are related to the initial attack. -HomeFront- New Jersey: Yesterday afternoon a fake active shooter incident was called in at JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Local authorities arrested Malika Brittingham (a civilian employee working for the US Navy) for calling in the fake active shooting, which resulted in the base locking down and local schools enacting active shooter protocols. Authorities state that Brittingham called in the active shooter because she was feeling ostracized by her coworkers, and that faking the active shooting would allow her to "trauma bond" with her fellow employees. Washington D.C. - Politics continues as the government remains shut down. This morning, several media outlets claimed to have access to a leaked letter that was sent from the White House to Congress. The letter allegedly contains a notice to Congress that the United States is now involved in a "noninternational armed conflict" regarding central/south American drug cartels. Analyst Comment: If this letter is being accurately described by journalists (which is a big "if"), this is quite the eyebrow-raising declaration. Since the letter itself is being withheld by media groups, there's no way to independently verify the information or if the context is being described accurately. Either way, the phrase "noninternational armed conflict" is an interesting choice of words as it sounds a lot like a war declaration without a war declaration. Until some level of clarification is obtained, it's all conjecture. However, the absolute lowest-hanging fruit of an assessment is that the conflict down south will not be ending or de-escalating anytime soon. Florida: Monday afternoon a man was arrested after making a bomb threat during the Liturgy at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Miami. This incident occurred on Sunday, however it's just now gaining wider attention due to the details of the case. Local authorities state that a man was clutching a backpack and was acting suspiciously during services on Sunday, which prompted a Deacon to approach the man. Upon making contact, the man handed the backpack to the Deacon, and stated that it was a bomb. The Deacon took the backpack, which was making a ticking noise, and placed off to the side of the nave. The church was not evacuated, and services continued as before. After a few minutes, a loud, piercing alarm was emitted from the suspect (which later was revealed to be the suspect's phone), along with an audible countdown to detonation. After a few more minutes, the man who brought the bomb suddenly ran to where the backpack was being stored, and placed his phone inside the bag. Services were allowed to finish, and at the end the would-be bomber (who remained unsubdued inside the church throughout the incident), stood up and shouted Allahu Akbar before departing. The man was arrested the following day, and was subsequently identified as Isaac Lopez, a Cuban national. After some time the bomb squad cleared the device as being fake, and the suspect was booked only on misdemeanor charges, and held under a $7,650 bond. No word yet on if any federal terrorism charges will be filed. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: If this incident had been real, this would have been a mass casualty event and MANY lives would likely have been lost. While hindsight is 20/20, theses types of incidents have already become far too common for anyone to take these threats lightly. As a reminder, a very similar situation occurred at St. Michael's Abbey in California less than a month ago, in which a mentally ill man with a vehicle full of weapons entered the Church and told the Priest that he was there to conduct a mass shooting. In the interest of time, we cannot wait months to examine every minute detail of this case; this is not to judge or nitpick the actions of the day callously, but to rapidly understand this event so that lives could be saved, if next time the bomb is real. Speculating a bit regarding this specific case, it is possible that Church leadership thought they were dealing with a potential mental illness situation, and that making a fuss would make the situation worse. This is becoming very common during church services all around the US, so this is understandable. However, all bets are off when someone says "I have a bomb", and their backpack is ticking. At that point we transition into the realm of counterterrorism, which many Church staff members are simply not experienced in managing (understandably so). In that respect, a basic understanding of what to do during a bomb threat is crucial. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Administration has produced both a Bomb Threat Guide and a Bomb Threat Checklist for those to use who do not have a counterterrorism background. These guides may be of use for Churches who do not have experience with such threats, and are linked below. But again, in the interest of time a quick and dirty explanation of what to do is as follows: 1. If a bomb is discovered DO NOT touch or move it. 2. Calmly but immediately vacate the premises. 3. Isolate the suspected explosive device (i.e. prevent others from going near it). 4. If the terrorist is on site and is an active and unchallenged threat, those who are so able must do what is necessary to save life and limb. 5. Once clear of the structure, call 911 as soon as possible to report the incident. Regarding the potential attacker, whatever means necessary should be undertaken to prevent the terrorist from re-gaining access to the bomb; allowing a terrorist to tinker with a potential explosive device in a packed Church is the least desirable possibility, and should be avoided at all costs. Considering that rapid, unplanned evacuations are not something that Churches may be familiar with, it will be up to the Deacons or the Priest to organize an efficient and calm evacuation outside. A good rule of thumb is that the blast zone for an IED is always bigger than you think it will be, and flying debris will be a threat for a considerable distance. As such, do not simply mill about immediately outside the front doors, but transition to a safe zone some distance away from the structure if able. If a scenario arises where a Church official is handed a potential explosive device, place the device on the ground as gently as possible and rapidly vacate the area. Homemade explosives are usually unstable and likely to go off with the slightest provocation, so moving the device at all is ill advised while the Church is being evacuated. Parishioners should refrain from using their cell phones until clear of the blast zone, as if the bomb has a radio-based trigger the use of cell phones might prematurely detonate the device. For any churches that have on-site security that use radios, the use of radio comms is also not recommended for the same reasons. Specifically with regards to the special considerations presented to religious institutions, and also understanding that services are a Holy time for worship, if there ever were a more pressing moment to interrupt a Priest during services, it would be when there is a clear and present bomb threat actively unfolding inside the Church. This would warrant the Priest delicately but firmly being made aware of the situation so that the facility can be evacuated promptly. Analyst: S2A1 Research: //END REPORT//

Do you ride a bike? Or an e-scooter? Or walk a dog? If so, please take a second to read this. If you are on a bike or scooter on a shared pathway and approaching someone walking a dog, please be courteous and slow down a little. Especially if coming up from behind. I am a wheelchair user with a dog and we have way too many close calls with fast moving bikes and scooters. People not using a bell and whipping by within inches. If the dog turned it's head or stepped a bit wide, they'd be hit. I'll happily move as far to one side of the path as possible, and if I've got the younger dog who isn't as experienced around fast moving things, I'll stop at the very side and have him sit in front of me to give everyone as much space as possible. If I don't know you're approaching, I can't do that. So please, for the love of dog, use your bell. Don't wait until you're right behind someone with a dog. Use it while you're still at a distance, and if you aren't sure they noticed it, ring it a few more times. Give them as much time as possible to move to the side and prepare the dog. If it's a puppy or a dog that hasn't had much experience with bikes, being able to get them off the path or give them a little extra distance from the fast moving bike helps prevent them from getting scared. The vast majority of cyclists are great and really respectful, but there's always a few that aren't. This year the challenge is kids on e-scooters. They are going fast and having fun. Safety isn't at the forefront of their mind. They often don't use a bell or slow down at blind corners, and many don't think about giving the dog any space. I've been startled a few times by them so I can only imagine how the dog felt. This is one of the reasons why I do a lot of desensitization and counter conditioning. Dog owners-you need to do your part to. If you've got headphones on, make sure you can still hear the bike bell. Make sure to give the cyclist or scooter rider as much space as possible from your dog. And of course, unless you are on a designated off leash trail, keep your dog on a leash. If you have a puppy or a newly adopted dog that might not be comfortable around bikes, take some kibble or treats and go hang out with them near a multi use path. Let them watch. As the bike or scooter approaches, drop a few treats on the ground. For many dogs, this is all it takes, but if your dog is visibly stressed, fixated on the bike, or reacting, try moving a further from the trail and once they're comfortable at a slightly further distance, try closer again. If they are still stressed or fearful even with more distance, don't force the issue. Instead introduce them to a bike that isn't moving, and gradually work them up from there. If they are struggling, talk to a trainer. Regardless of if you are holding a leash, riding a bike or scooter, or enjoying a walk outdoors, just be respectful. And of course, be safe. Thanks, Admin 🎥 Puppy walk for cuteness

Very touching video between the Prince of Wales and Rhian Mannings to discuss the suicide of her husband to mark #WorldMentalHealthDay. Supporting and speaking up on Mental Health has been a decade long cause for the Prince and Princess of Wales. but for Prince William suicide prevention especially in Males has been a key topic. Watching William being so affected while discussing “suicide” reminds me of his 2017 GQ interview in which he revealed why Mental Health became an important cause for him: “If I think about my current job as a helicopter pilot with the air ambulance service in East Anglia, my first job there was a suicide and it really affected me. I have been to a number of suicides, self harms, overdoses.”💔 When asked why did that affect him so much, Prince William replied: “Not just the person who lost their life, but the people they leave behind. One of the stats I was given was that, just in the area we cover in the east of England - my base is in Cambridge - there are five attempted suicides every day. Yet suicide is still not talked about. So people have the pain of loss, but also the stigma and taboo means they are sometimes ashamed even to talk about how a lover, a partner, a brother, a sister, a best friend, how they died. That stat - five attempted suicides in the East Anglia region alone - it blew my mind, I thought, "Oh my God, this is such a big issue."🥹❤️‍🩹 This is the background story that lead us to this emotional video. Losing a loved one to natural death is already quite emotional and heartbreaking. Losing a loved one to Suicide is distressing and mentally traumatising❤️‍🩹 It is a hard topic but a necessary one and it is good to see the Future King be the one to lead the way every time there is a hard topic to discuss or champion such as suicide or homelessness. This is what leadership is all about👌🏽 The film was also released to mark the launch of The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales's National Suicide Prevention Network. The Network is backed by more than 20 organisations and funding of more than £1million from the couple.”❤️ Prince William and Catherine are ALWAYS in the spotlight for the right reasons👌🏽 #PrinceofWales 📹Kensington Palace

The Engine Start Levers or Fuel Cut off switches (different name, same switches) control the fuel and ignition for the engines. The 787 shares the same switches and very similar logic to the Boeing 737 Max. The switches have been designed in such a way that they require a very deliberate movement in order for them to move from one position to another. They’re also placed in such a position (below the thrust levers) so that it’s very unlikely that they’ll be knocked. But even if they were, the spring force and detent would prevent them from moving unintentionally. When we move the start levers from the “Run” or “Idle” position, to “Cutoff”, an electrical signal is sent to move the fuel valves from open to close. The engine ignitors are also then de-powered. This stops the supply and ignition of fuel and the engine spools down. Pilots are trained from day one to only touch those switches in flight when called for by a non normal checklist, such as an engine fire or failure. When a fuel switch has to be moved to cutoff in flight, we adhere to a very strict procedure… Pilot monitoring will place their hand on the switch of the damaged engine and both visually and audibly confirm with Pilot flying that the correct fuel switch has been selected. Only after both pilots have confirmed that the correct switch has been selected, will pilot monitoring move that switch to the cutoff position. As an additional layer of safety, some aircraft types only allow the switch to be moved to cutoff in flight if the thrust levers are in the closed or idle position. Do you think that this design feature should be implemented in all aircraft? 📸 by ig/airlinepilotperformance

An imam in Sweden has caused controversy after he appeared on video calling for faithful Muslim men to beat their wives if they misbehave or disobey their husbands. Those who are familiar with the tenets of Islamic law know that the imam’s advice is drawn directly from the Koran (4:34): “Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.” The referenced video featuring the wife-beating imam is here. He’s speaking in Arabic, but the video has both English and Swedish subtitles. Jimmie Åkesson and the Sweden Democrats insist that imam, and others who express similar sentiments, must have their Swedish citizenship revoked. Åkesson: Close mosque and strip imam’s citizenship September 30, 2025 The Sweden Democrats’ (SD) Jimmie Åkesson believes that the imam in Kristianstad who preached about beating women should have his citizenship taken away. He also wants to close the mosque itself. The SD is reportedly now pressing the government to tighten legislation in order to make it easier to revoke citizenship. “Those types of mosques should be closed, and we should also tear them down or use them for something else, Jimmie Åkesson tells Riks. The SD leader comments on the case of Imam Saleh Abouelenen, who has been forced to leave his position in the Al Rahma Mosque in Kristianstad after a well-known sermon about when men are allowed to beat their wives. Such imams should be deported, according to Åkesson. “It is absolutely horrible that people with the status of an imam in the Muslim civil society can express themselves like that and still be in the country, which they naturally should not be. And that the mosque also has the potential to continue carrying out its activity. That cannot be allowed.” Saleh Abouelenen has been given Swedish nationality. But the SD wants to push through a change in the constitution that makes it possible to deport, for example, terrorists or persons who have a connection to terror or extremism. “Today, it is not possible, but we think it should be possible,” says Jimmie Åkesson. According to Expressen, after the incident in Kristianstad, the SD is pressing the government to go beyond the announced legislation and enable the revocation of Swedish citizenship for Islamists, also on grounds of immorality. The government is preparing a model to be able to revoke citizenship for serious criminality or if citizenship was obtained based on false information. But the SD wants to include more grounds. “If you say, as the government ministers do, that this is terrible, then you must also do something,” says SD leader [Ludvig] Aspling to Expressen. He continues: “But what we should do now is discuss what we will do in the next term. The Sweden Democrats will make a statement of their wish that more people will be caught up when it comes to the stripping of citizenship.” This IS Islam. It is inconsistent with civilization by its’ own definition. As Erdogan of Turkey said “There is no moderate Islam. (or extremist Islam) There is only Islam.” What are Sweden’s feminists saying? Nothing, I suspect.

Homeland Attacker 🔻 Faraj al-Hamasi Knows Targets, Timing & Attackers For The Next U.S. Homeland Attack. "He was slotted to be a ground commander so would be a deputy under Mohammad Atta if this was 9/11—he knows targets, timing and attackers" 🟥"Libyan national Faraj al-Hamasi was recently detained in Germany following a mass stabbing in Bielefeld. What hasn’t been publicly acknowledged is that Faraj was actually designated to be one of the attackers in al-Qaeda’s next U.S. homeland plot. He was slated to travel from Germany to the United States to participate directly in what insiders are already calling the next 9/11. He was slotted to be a ground commander so would be a deputy under Mohammad Atta if this was 9/11—he knows targets, timing and attackers" 🟥"Faraj is a longtime member of Ansar al-Sharia Libya and directly connected to key figures in our 2012 Benghazi attacks, including the top two targets of our investigation: Abdul Azim Ali Musa bin Ali and Ziad Balaam." 🟥"Attempts by the German government to portray Faraj as an ISIS operative or misidentify him as “Mahmoud from Syria” are deliberate disinformation not from the German government but from al-Qaeda. As we warned, ISIS is being used as cover." 🟥"We passed this terrorists name to the new admin in early February—we can’t force them to do their jobs—we did our part. Our government hasn’t shown much interest in being proactive against this threat—this is a huge opportunity to thwart pieces of the plot if they leaned in and made it a priority" Sarah Adams

How do you notch a FOX 3 in War Thunder? The simple answer is: Fly sideways. That's not a joke if you don't know this. Turn 90 degrees and place the Radar or Missile contact on your RWR on the 3 or 9 o'clock position, dump chaff, and either gain or lose altitude, until the missile or contact stops beeping. Radar and Radar missiles have what is known as a "Notch" filter. This filter is primarily to filter out the ground from the radar display or sensor. Because if a missile is moving at 1,000m/s, what is also approaching the missile at 1,000m/s? Often times it's the ground. However, this can cause the missile or radar to also filter out slow moving targets as background clutter. If you plane is not moving directly towards or away from the missile or radar it will start to think you are part of the clutter and filter you out, missing you in the process. This is the simplest explanation of how a notch works and how to do it. FOX 3s are extremely hard to dodge like this at close range though, so you typically don't want to do that. As your options are either: "Dump chaff and pray" or "Shoot the missile down with another missile." Either can actually work in War Thunder, but are extremely unreliable. Note, almost all planes do not have an RWR sensor on the top and bottom of the fuselage, so make sure you fly level and point either wingtip at the target. This is what is known as "Beam aspect" to the target, but most people just say "notching" or "F Pull." See the video for a practical example against an AIM-54 Phoenix.

💥Omer Bartov, one of the leading scholars of the Holocaust, raised in a Zionist family, appeared on Italian television to explain how Zionism has evolved into an increasingly expansionist ideology: "October 7 was described as the largest killing of Jews since the Holocaust. Hamas was portrayed as Nazi-like, and society gave a blank check to the hundreds of thousands of reservists who were called up and sent to Gaza to level it. Today, the Holocaust is no longer seen only as an event belonging to the past, something to be commemorated, but also as a present and imminent danger, an existential threat. Yet the last real war fought by Israel was in 1973. That was the war in which I also took part. All the wars that followed have been wars of choice, fought against people who fought back in response to Israeli policies. So who, within this narrative, is supposed to represent an imminent danger to Israel? The Palestinians. Palestinians can carry out a suicide attack or launch a rocket, but they have never possessed the power to constitute an existential threat to the Israeli state. Then there is the unquestioning support from the West. European politicians, much of the media, and large parts of the academic world in Europe are terrified of being labeled antisemitic. In the West, a deep sense of guilt has developed over the Holocaust, for having participated in it, been complicit in it, or remained indifferent to it. This has facilitated Israel’s attempt to secure a blank check for all of its actions by claiming that any criticism of Israeli policies, Israeli expansion, or what Israel has done in Gaza is antisemitic. In this way, a moral barrier has been created. Zionism must be abandoned because it has become an ideology that justifies genocide, and an ideology of that kind cannot be repaired. We must return to the beginning and create a state that guarantees equal rights for all of its citizens. This requires a fundamental paradigm shift. It cannot come from within. Strong pressure on Israel is needed in the form of political, economic, and military sanctions that force it to confront the limits of its power and redefine itself as a state."

WATCH: CNN’s John Miller mentions the video and notes left behind by the alleged Minneapolis Catholic church shooter, citing their mental illness and the working motive is “he was in pain,” but NOTHING about the shooter being transgender and that they hated Christians, Jews, and Trump... Well, we’ve been looking into the shooter who law enforcement sources have identified as Robin Westman and police have been examining some of the postings online by an individual of the same name, presumed to be the same individual. It shows numerous weapons, magazines, things in preparation for the shooting along with a book and different notes. But one of them is particularly telling in that it says: ‘I have waited for this for so long. I am not well. I am not right. I am a sad person, haunted by these thoughts that do not go away. I know this is wrong’ and he goes on to describe that the action he is going to take against this world before taking his own life — which is not uncommon in these incidents, these active shooter scenarios where you see someone who reports to be in — in — in pain and trauma and that they write all of this out and leave it behind with the foreknowledge that what they're about to do is going to end their own life as well, while taking these — these strangers, these innocent people with them in the process. But investigators are going back through this material and a lot of other material trying to determine motive. So what do we know? I mean, what we know, if this in fact is from the shooter, that his motive was he was in pain. But what we don't see here and there's more to go through is what was, what was the shooter — Robin Westman in pain about specifically?”

“Your generosity conceals something dirtier and meaner.” A wife saying this to her husband is a reminder to men to treat marriage as one of your least, and highest-risk, investments. An investment which, if it collapses, leaves you unshaken; and if it does not collapse, remains sustainable. And therefore, prioritize investments in self-sufficiency. Amass enough value and resources that only a portion of it when committed to marriage, suffices - while the remainder, if the marriage fails, insulates you from ruin. Most marriages fail partly because men are too little sufficient for the amount of stake they make. Men risk failing. And When men fail, marriages fail. And when marriage fails, the man fails the woman. Because a woman, I Will tell you, is often with the man because of the marriage, not in the marriage because of the man. For women, marriage is often the goal, not the man. The man is a means. And when marriage fails, that means has, in her eyes, proven useless. She rages. And with that, the man’s peace is alienated. You must not fail. Because your failure can become the marriage’s failure. For in your incapacity, the security marriage guaranteed your wife is threatened. And women’s attraction plummets where security diminishes. Then it matters less how much you have sacrificed, how much security you once guaranteed, your dreams, or even your potential to recover. What matters is the impending doom your failure appears to announce - the threat to her security. And with that, her survival. And as a naturally and spiritually dependent species, which woman is, you, the man, lose utility when you are no longer dependable. And consequently, lose respect, grace and companion. The whole point I am belabouring is this: Men, do not delude yourselves with the “for better or worse” myth and invest excessively in marriage. Invest in it with only a minimal percentage of your value, as you would any other high-risk investment. Be so self-sufficient before marriage that you can run your home on a harmless and mildly percentage of your finances. Marry a woman who poses less threat to your finances, peace, and emotional stability. Make marriage one of the smallest running investments in your portfolio. Because when you invest too much of yourself in marriage, you relinquish more profitable parts of your existence for something as low-profit and uncertain as marriage. Again and for the last time, Invest little enough in marriage that its collapse cannot collapse you. For a man who places too much of himself in marriage does builds a vulnerability not a union.

I've been asked to review and provide thoughts on the question of a potential targeting call in the Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Football / UMHB Football🏈 #d3fb game Saturday. I have synced up two videos -- one from UMHB's broadcast and one posted by In The (D3FB) Huddle contributor Riley Conlee (Riley Conlee) (if he could provide credit to the videographer of it, I'd appreciate it). There is a full-speed view and a 20% speed view of the central action included in the video. To evaluate targeting, we have to review both aspects of the rule to see what, if anything, qualifies. I want to provide the entire set of rules (9-1-3 & 9-1-4): "Targeting and Making Forcible Contact With the Crown of the Helmet ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of their helmet. The crown of the helmet is the top segment of the helmet; namely, the circular area defined by a 6-inch radius from the apex (top) of the helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 9-6) (A.R. 9-1-3-I) Targeting and Making Forcible Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI) Note 1: “Targeting” means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to: - Launch. A player leaving their feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area. - A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground. - Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area. - Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet. Note 2: Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14). When in question, a player is defenseless. Examples of defenseless players include but are not limited to: - A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass. This includes an offensive player in a passing posture with focus downfield. - A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect themselves or has not clearly become a ball carrier. - A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return. - A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick, or one who has completed a catch or recovery and has not had time to protect themselves or has not clearly become a ball carrier. - A player on the ground. - A player obviously out of the play. - A player who receives a blind-side block. - A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped. - A quarterback any time after a change of possession - A ball carrier who has obviously given themselves up and is sliding feet- first. - A player attempting to recover a loose ball." We need to start at Note 2 to see if Kyle Brown qualified here as a "defenseless player." If not, then 9-1-4 would not apply to him here. Kyle was not a receiver or a passer per se here -- he was clearly a runner downfield and was not in the grasp of any player. As a result, he was not "defenseless" by definition. That means that the only way targeting can be called here is if the provisions of Rule 9-1-3 were violated. Rule 9-1-3 is VERY specific about the initial requirement before we can go to the question of a required indicator: "No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of their helmet." The crown of the helmet is "the top segment of the helmet, specifically the circular area with a 6-inch radius from the apex (top) of the helmet." In the videos, we see a couple of telling signs. First, Kyle appeared to actually lower HIS helmet as the contact became imminent, which is something coaches advise against for a variety of reasons, including self-preservation. But what is telling is that the UMHB defender attempted to peel off as he saw the angle of the contact he was heading toward with Brown. Specifically, he appeared to end up perpendicular to Brown, perhaps catching Brown's facemask enough to cause the helmet to fly. Yet, that contact was NOT with the defender's crown. As a result, since Brown was not defenseless by rule and because the crown of the helmet was not used for forcible contact to the head/neck area, the picking up of the flag by the officials was appropriate. That said, I spoke with an official who reviewed the videos without commentary and who landed in the same spot as I did concerning the above. They stated that if immediate replay review was available, crews will generally throw the flag and go to review (here, it likely would have been overturned by review, preserving the defender's eligibility). Since the ASC is not providing the on-field replay review yet, the officials' decision would have impacted the game by ejecting a player for the last 6 minutes of the first half until a Halftime review would have been available. For those wondering about how replay is impacting the game, I think this is a good reminder of the nuances it can impact.

Iran. Phones from arrested rioters had a video of a woman giving instructions on how they should act when caught The woman—clearly a foreign intelligent agent—tell the rioters in the video: • If you’ve been arrested, don’t think it’s the end of the line yet. You still have time to protect yourself, especially now. • Giving statements as a “confession,” such as “I came to protest high prices so the government would hear our voice,” are important. • If they try to link you to a person or people outside the country, or claim that your confessions were coached or trained, deny it as quickly as possible. • Say that you hate the traitorous expatriates whose true colors were exposed during the 12-day war. • Say: “We’re not without a homeland; we’re only protesting the high cost of living,” and strongly insult the expatriates. • If they mention any names, say you’ve never heard of them. Also, make sure the wallpaper on all your phones is a photo of Qassem Soleimani or Khamenei. I know it’s hard and you don’t like it, but you have to do it. • We have to play their game. Just as we can’t tell who among the protesters is an agent/infiltrator, they [Iranian police] shouldn’t be able to tell either. Play by their rules. • That way, at worst, it’s 10 days of detention and that’s it. • Remember: nothing can be done for Iran by so-called heroes abroad or by those in prison. Preserving your survival and your safety is more important than anything else. @FotrosResistance
