Even Maul returning and making himself known within the galaxy a decade later never once actually disrupted Sidious’ ultimate goal. I really like how, in this moment from The Book Of Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker actually gave Grogu a fair choice as to whether or not he wanted to continue training to be a Jedi or return to Din Djarin. It’s a great progression from the Jedi Order that we see in earlier stories set within the Prequel Era, and really says a lot about how Luke wanted to teach the next generation of Jedi.

I’ve always had an appreciation for this small moment from The Clone Wars where Ahsoka rescues Anakin from Buzz Droids destroying his Jedi Interceptor. It’s a brief, fun scene, but one that shows a lot of growth for Ahsoka’s character, and how exactly Anakin’s training has ultimately equipped her for survival. Knowing they had failed on Geonosis, they open the duel with basic attacks from Ataru and Shien, forms that Dooku’s Makashi easily dismantles. This convinces Dooku that he’s facing the same Jedi he defeated three years earlier. Then they switch. Obi-Wan returns to his impenetrable Soresu, while Anakin unleashes the refined Djem So he mastered during the Clone Wars. Dooku suddenly realizes the opening exchange was a ruse and that Anakin had surpassed power levels he thought were possible.

Not only does it add more development for Morgan’s character and showcase Thrawn’s awareness that The Empire is not an invulnerable construct, but this moment also plants the seeds for how what remains of The Empire will operate after the events of Return of the Jedi. It almost feels like something you’d hear during an Imperial meeting in an episode of Andor. The writing on display here is just as incredible as it is daunting.
