Memory is the largest unsolved problem in AI today and no one has found the recipe yet. Making memory “just work” is critical to making AI that “just works”.

Foundation is powered by a revolutionary data model. The results of over 20+ years of R&D. A data model that, in our testing, scored SOTA on the BEAM 10M memory benchmark on its first run.

It’s a wiki - a hyperlinked, tagged, versioned data model that AI already deeply understands. We see the wiki as a natural-language form of indexing. Production memory needs more than markdown on a filesystem. Foundation solves the hard infra problems - Continually improves - Versioning and diffs - Lineage and provenance - Agentic search - Concurrency control - Access control

Foundation would not be possible to build without ChromaDB and Context-1. Chroma is the only database that can handle: - Multi-tenant zero-ops scaling - Object-storage native design → cost efficacy - Optimized for search workloads - With support for transactions (new this month!)

One use case that we think every company will have is a shared Foundation for their team that documents everything they know across the engineering team and the broader organization. Foundation is infrastructure and fully customizable, but also works out of the box with a large variety of connectors.

Chroma Cloud serves 10,000s of teams today including SpaceXAI and Mintlify. We’re excited to push the frontier of AI data infrastructure and soon Foundation will be available to build into every agent. Our mission remains clear - we are building the best memory system on earth.

Thank you to the incredible team at Chroma. Try it today!

wrote on this originally here

very cool!

memory has grown into an increasingly important software category. excited to see this in action

IT’S ALIVE (and you’re a natural)

would like to try it, but it's $30 a month again... and it's nowhere mentioned until you're at the last step of the setup, which is the worst part imo

working on solution to this

Launch so good buddy grew his hair back

i really need to shave it off again unruly

Go bald and grow the beard out trusttttt

@AstasiaMyers Launch days are the best days.

oh this is cool, nice work!

congrats dude! I was just hunting around for a vendor recently...will give this a spin

@RichardSocher Congrats!! Excited to try

nice work - we built @memco_ai on this conviction: agents need memory that carries across tools and teams. A wiki is a good interface. The hard part is deciding what earns the right to become shared memory, then proving it improves the next agent's work.

Can't wait to try this out. Love it, Jeff.

congrats on the launch 👏🏼

Let's go Chroma!!!

Very cool! Congrats Jeff

Congrats! That's huge!

thank you 🙏

This is super cool! But would have loved if you explained more how memory is injected and managed, and first of all, how it should prevent context bloat or un synced data. Anyway.. i’m downloading it! Hope you solved the biggest problem we are having with ai

lots more info to come here!

Was recently speaking with an enterprise AI leader who talked about "Context Soup" -- building a single place where all of the knowledge in their company is accessible to agents. Foundation looks like the right pot to cook that soup in. Congrats on the launch!

Nice!! Excited to see Chroma enter the memory arena (officially)

in the arena

@0interestrates Exciting!

Congrats!

Congratulations!

Ohhhh now we’re talking!!! Congrats on the launch!

congrats Jeff, can’t wait to try this out

🔥🔥🔥

very interesting! q: how does access control work at the wiki level when underlying source docs have different perms?

we built a custom ACL system that inherits and enforces all that (not everything is exposed today )

cooollll

will take it for a spin!

LFG this looks cool

🚀🚀🚀

This looks like good work! Installing and taking it for a spin tonight.

tell me everything you dislike! also we are scaling up to meet demand

congrats on the launch!!

Not saying how much it costs/that it even costs until you finish onboarding is definitely not the way to go, deleted

Cool! Congrats on the launch Jeff!!

beautiful filmed

this is awesome! huge congrats man

woah
