I’ve been thinking about that

No way I got responded by the goat 😭😭😭

After watching your 9 hour video covering green lanterns, there’s no way I can fully enjoy the show. Casting of John and Hal is great but the writing isn’t

I’m glad they didn’t go the Carol Ferris route, no offense, because I feel like it drives home the point that family raises us in both good and bad ways which was also a theme of the show.

I think the show already does this but instead of losing a love interest in carol, he loses a 2nd father in sinestro when he had to put him down and send him away. And when we see him again, we clearly see that sinestro has influenced Hal into becoming a more cynical person

Fucking agreed apart from her dying tho unless you would plan to revive her

I think people,to include hal,are interpreting the circumstances wrong. That letter his dad and gpa left are more of explanation or a warning than a suicide note. Both wrote the letter not knowing when they'd die so when Hal's dad died yes he was struggling but could've died a hero

if Hal ends up saying dead, it would be pretty dope if they got his Hal-O-Gram to re-create this panel, so him and john can both sling rings and go on adventures together.

Well said!! Also I love that even with the hate you get you get to post videos of you chillin outside your house in a rocking chair Much love comics explained

Well actually there’s ppl who are also reckless & do the daredevil thing almost seeking a glorious level death even in the interrogation room Hal gets called out for daring the bomb,Suic!de isn’t just jumping off cliff or gun2head,it can be glory chasing or RecklessAbandonment

The problem with this theory is integral to what is wrong with society in general. Empathy. You don’t have to be raped in order to be heartbroken for rape victims. Superman develops this character of u,til ate goodness before ever learning he was the last of his kind.

It’s interesting to me that James Gunn made similar changes to Superman’s parents and removed some of the heroism. I think that was to a greater degree but it makes me curious how they’ll approach other origins

i like the shows portrayal of his isolation from childhood somewhat mirroring John’s despite vastly different scenarios, and allowing through a younger; less isolated Hal, chance for both protagonists to reach out to each other, form a bond and change each others perspectives pt1

I would of liked owen wilson instead as hals father

I think that baseball analogy alleviates this for me. His need of people, that promotes his altruism or “heroism” to subdue his feelings of isolation and addiction to responsibility is interesting to me.

You shouldn’t even have bothered to respond to the person that compared sacrificing themselves to save others to suicide from depression. That’s an idiot

I feels like this largely misses the point of Hal’s father’s death in Lanterns and how it relates to what the ring means to Hal part of the reason Hal is so reluctant to give up the ring is because it would ground him in the reality where he’s just an ordinary person
