(sensitive subject warning) today is world suicide prevention day. i recorded a song i never planned to release, “by the time you notice” it’s a very raw b-side i wrote on the spot as i recorded it. while the album was wrapping up, i felt it was important to include in the release. this year, the world lost two amazing people that i had the honor of knowing during their time on this earth, due to suicide. a lot of people didn’t know they were fighting with their mental health. those struggling typically hesitate to reach out for help because they are afraid of being perceived as weak or a failure if they admit they are not okay. i’m not great with my words, but i wrote this song in the perspective of struggling with continuing to exist. please regularly check up on those you love, provide a safe space, and encourage open communication. if you are quietly struggling i want you to know that you are not weak, you are a fighter, you are brave. it is not a taboo topic to discuss, there is someone who will listen. 🩵

🩷 : I bought a self-improvement book about how to get better at talking to people. I’m really not good at making conversation, especially with people I’m not close to. The version of me around my friends and my fans is exactly the same, but when I’m around other people, I’m actually not very good at making conversation. I was talking with my friends about a conversation I had with a celebrity I follow on social media, even though we’re not close. My friend was like, “Why didn’t you keep the conversation going?” and I replied, “Wait, really? I supposed to do that right?” It probably makes me seem stuck-up, but honestly, I’m just scared. I keep worrying, “What if they don’t want to talk to me?” So I don’t dare to start a conversation or say too much. But my friend told me, 'Just go for it! You never know if they want to talk to you or not. Sure, it might feel a little awkward or funny if it turns out they don't want to talk with you, but that's how you get closer to people.' And I believe it’s an important moment to remind everyone in LA and beyond that, despite it all wherever you are and whatever you’re going through, you are not alone. People legit care about you. Even people that don’t yet know you. Never hesitate to reach out if you need a friend or need help. You are not alone.

One of my Twitter quips was, “The only true test of intelligence is if you get what you want out of life,” and that triggers a lot of people. But how else do you know? How else do you know if you’re smart? If you’re not getting what you want out of life, how smart are you really? You might have had bad luck once upon a time, but consistently, every time? I doubt it. And there’s two parts to that. One is actually testing yourself against the world to see if you get what you want. And the other is wanting the right things in the first place. You know, I wish I was 20 years old and had wings. Umm, not gonna happen. So you gotta wish for the right things too.
