I’ve got a real problem with a Postmaster General who seems hellbent on driving the Postal Service into the ground. Rural America relies on the USPS to deliver everything from medication to farm parts to ballots, so I won't stop fighting for mail service they can depend on.

If the Postal Service moves forward with President Trump's plan to restrict mail ballot delivery, I'll pursue a congressional subpoena of the Postmaster General and lead efforts to remove him from office. No administration should be able to use the Postal Service to make it harder for Americans to vote.

Postmaster General David Steiner told a Senate committee Wednesday that, if a proposed rule is adopted, the U.S. Postal Service would withhold mail ballots from states that do not hand over to the federal government lists of people who have requested absentee or mail ballots. Sen. Gary Peters, the top Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, asked Steiner if the Postal Service would deliver ballots to a state's voters if that state refuses to turn over its absentee voter roll. "Under our proposed regulation? No," Steiner said, adding that the Postal Service would "tell the state that we need the manifest." The proposed USPS rule will ask states to provide the agency with a list of people who have requested a mail-in or absentee ballot for an election. "This provision will help determine adherence to federal law and facilitate law enforcement efforts," the proposed rule states. The proposal cites President Donald Trump's March executive order that seeks to tighten mail voting rules and create eligible voter lists, even though the Constitution explicitly grants states the authority to run elections, while Congress has a limited oversight role in adopting election regulations. Despite the president's own use of mail ballots in past elections, he has called the voting method "cheating."

Trump's Executive Order on USPS & Mail-In Ballots could finally end rigged elections in California & beyond, regulating mail-in voting at the federal level. The EO puts states on the hook to accompany a list of the eligible voters that are going to vote federally and who they're going to provide mail-in ballots to and also adds a unique intelligent mail barcode for tracking. Trump's March 31, 2026 EO directs the Postmaster General to start proposed rulemaking within 60 days to create uniform national standards for mail-in and absentee ballots. Ballot envelope must be marked "Official Election Mail" with USPS-approved logo/markings. Must be automation-compatible with a unique Intelligent Mail barcode for tracking. Must pass USPS envelope design review for compliance. States must notify USPS at least 90 days before a federal election if they plan to use mail-in/absentee ballots via USPS. States must submit a list of eligible voters at least 60 days before the election. USPS shall not transmit mail-in or absentee ballots to anyone not on a State-specific list. USPS must create and maintain a "Mail-In and Absentee Participation List" for each state. Providing states with lists of enrolled individuals with unique barcode identifiers. All processes must comply with the Privacy Act. Final rule must be issued no later than 120 days from the EO date. This is a HUGE win for election integrity.
