I’ve walked London’s high streets and seen the same pattern. Poorer communities with clustering of gambling premises while wealthier areas are protected. That’s why I campaigned to scrap Aim to Permit. This is a win for local communities and the future of our high streets.

I’ve seen some of the most run down high streets and retail areas in Britain. ‘Shopping city’ in Runcorn is up there for decay. This is the result of 40 years plus of ‘leave it to the market’ and letting people and communities rot. The idea of planning is regarded as stupid.
