A wrongful impeachment is not only a legal issue but a scar that follows a person into every political contest, appointment and general perception. In a resounding affirmation of the rule of law, the Court of Appeal rendered its decision in Kisumu COA CA No. 008 of 2020 quashing the unlawful impeachment of my friend, George Onyango Oloo whom I represented at the Court of Appeal. Hon. Oloo was the Speaker of the Kisumu County Assembly until he wasn’t, following an impeachment process that came fast and furiously; completed in an unprecedented three hours! The Court of Appeal agreed with us, set aside the impeachment for being fundamentally unconstitutional and awarded compensation for the unlawful impeachment.
