Jack Nicholson owns three Oscars. Every time Jack danced with Oscar, so did his female counterpart. Louise Fletcher, Shirley MacLaine & Helen Hunt all took home Best Actress Oscars at the same time Nicholson won an Academy Award. This man is my favorite actor ever for a reason.

The Departed turns 20 this year. I honestly can’t even believe I’m writing that sentence- time flies. This is the only film to win Martin Scorsese an #Oscar for Best Picture. It’s also one of my favorite films ever made featuring my favorite actor- Jack Nicholson. A masterpiece.

Jack Nicholson was so good & so convincing as Eugene O’Neill in the Warren Beatty-directed masterpiece Reds, that O’Neill’s daughter Oona wrote to Nicholson praising his rendition of her father. Nicholson earned an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actor for this. He’s profound here.

I think Jack Nicholson & Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed has really held the test of time. Nicholson - my absolute favorite actor - paved a path that DiCaprio is walking down in many regards. I will always savor their showdown with Martin Scorsese calling plays, all of which lead to Marty’s only Oscar win for Best Picture. This is as good as it gets.

Rob Reiner brought the absolute best out of my favorite actor ever, Jack Nicholson. A Few Good Men is a fucking classic- it might be Rob’s best film. It’s going to take a long time to process this loss. This is a really shitty way to end 2025. Just shocking & horrible.

Inde Navarrette’s work in Obsession reminded me of Jack Nicholson in The Shining. And before you come at me for being hyperbolic or prisoner-of-the moment, Nicholson is my favorite actor ever & someone I’ve studied my entire life. I don’t hand out Jack Nicholson-comparisons left & right. With all of that said, Inde’s line-delivery, physicality & range reminded of Jack in certain ways. I’m not saying her performance is of the same caliber or that we’ll remember Obsession or her work the same way we do Jack/Kubrick’s. But if you ask me my gut feeling walking out of the theater - or even a few days after seeing it- Navarrette genuinely reminded me of Jack Nicholson because of the way in which she transformed throughout the film. Her character’s lack of free-will gave way to a Nicholson-esque performance.

Chinatown was recently named by the LA Times as the Best L.A. Movie of All Time. I like this decision. You guys know Jack Nicholson is my favorite actor, and this might be his best performance. The problem I’m having is I don’t know if anything tops Heat. That might be LA’s best.

Jack Nicholson is 89 years old but he stopped acting 16 years ago when he gave his final performance in the James L. Brooks films How Do You Know. This reunited Nicholson with Brooks, a long time friend & collaborator, and Jack still had some juice in this film. I’ll always maintain that Jack stepped away from acting a little early. I think he definitely had more roles in the tank after this one. My favorite actor.
