It's the most powerful storm to hit the region since Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. Jamaica faces catastrophic conditions: 15 to 30 inches of rain, with some eastern areas getting up to 40 inches (more than they typically see in an entire year). Mountainous areas could see winds exceeding 200 mph. Storm surge will pound the southern coast. Jamaica's local government minister warned Sunday that many communities "will not survive this flooding." The storm has already killed 4 people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas, and Turks and Caicos are all in the path. Forecasters say shelter now, don't leave until it's over. Source: NBC News
