The U.S. already has 5,500 data centers that use 449 million gallons of water a day. They’re being built on farmland so in addition to taking away our water they’re taking away our food supply all for mass surveillance, AI slop, and to make billionaires richer. "Golf courses in Arizona use ~30X as much water as all data centers in Arizona. Best I can tell, data centers are generating ~50X as much revenue per gallon used. So, if I could close all golf courses in Arizona and replace them with data centers ... that would generate billions of dollars in revenue, without increasing water bills. I'm from a not super well-off area that is left behind by industry. I would be excited if a medium-sized data center were built in the vicinity that the town could then tax. A local utility company in Illinois has plans to help lower residents electrical bills They will be requiring new data centers and planned data centers to sign 10 year contracts saying they will be responsible for paying for upgrade costs and electricity usage costs “That means any new data centers would be on the hook for power upgrades and any energy they plan to use, even if the data center ends up not getting built or if they don't use as much power as planned or if they close. So if they use the power that they're applying for, then they'll pay their fair share of the cost of maintaining and building our grid through their rates”

Unsurprisingly, our current Congressman remains silent about it. When I’m back in Congress, I’ll fight to stop data centers from coming to St. Louis, so that we don't repeat history and let our families and children suffer the consequences.

It also ensures that any developer has to get a permit from our water management districts — that protects our aquifers from abuse. John James cannot do it because the data center builders in Michigan are among his biggest donors. And James has already proven he cannot handle his own conflict with data center special interests. Instead of defending his record with substance, he plays the race card. Opposition to data centers is a key element of Republican victory this November, and John James is a liability at the top of our ticket.
