China responded to Washington’s proposal to impose tariffs of up to 100% on buyers of Russian energy, including China: Beijing will take all necessary measures against illegal unilateral sanctions with no basis in international law and no UNSC authorization. Translation: Don’t forget who lost the trade wars. The more Washington weaponizes tariffs, the fewer weapons it has left. China’s trade dependence on the U.S. has already fallen to a historic low.
