Mortise & Tenon Joinery woordworking techniques were invented by the Chinese that significantly predated the Japanese & Korean; both countries learned the techniques from China during Tang & Song Dynasties.

Very weak tenon joint. Dont believe me, test it. Lots of glue area and clever locking mechanism, but ultimately that is a weak tenon.
