I think everyone should listen to this. Tesla FSD has gotten so incredibly good that people are now getting so hung up on the lingering issues and completely dismissing the fact that we literally have self-driving cars. When I grew up the idea of a self-driving car was something out of science fiction. Ten year old Devin could have never guessed that later in life his car would be driven by electricity and drive itself. The future is cool, appreciate it for what it is and don't get too hungup on the imperfections along the way. Tesla is actively putting out new updates as fast as they possibly can to continue to make FSD better - let them cook, and enjoy the ride.

PSA: One company on earth makes a car that can drive itself anywhere. There is only one company that makes the product that allowed me to film this self driving video, 50 miles north of the middle of nowhere. It is like magic. I think it’s about to be the biggest tech innovation of any kind since the internet. They currently cost less than 40k in the USA. Pretty wild stuff. You should check it out.

I hesitate posting this for a bunch of reasons, but I think it's good to just be transparent about everything. I love to highlight all of the incredible things that FSD does, but I also think it's good to talk about any issues that it has currently. In my opinion the E2E on the highway needs some major changes. This clip was from my drive yesterday, and it is without a doubt the most dangerous situation that FSD has put me in. Yes, I am aware that it is FSD Supervised - everything that happens in the car is ultimately my responsbility. I just was wanting to see what the car would do, and I was hoping that it would make a better decision to be honest. Let me know what you think.

Cofounder of NuroAI A is making an AI that can drive vehicles, was winning me over through demonstrations of his more flexible AI than Tesla has demonstrated. Drove in left-hand Japan with no prior training on such. Learned by decomposing the road into all of its parts. So figured out that you needed to drive in the left instantly. But then he said LiDAR is demonstrating itself to be safer. So I stuck up my hand and asked for a situation where LiDAR and camera is safer than camera only approaches, which his company sells too. “A child all in black at night, particularly around a corner.” So tonight after I drove my friend home at 2:30 a.m. I studied this in deep detail in my wife’s Model Y with hardware 4 and Tesla Self Driving controlling the car. 1. Cameras can see far more than humans can at night. 2. Modern cars come with matrix headlights. Which go around the turn and illuminate anywhere a car can turn. 3. Every intersection has a light on almost every intersection. Where there is none why would a child in black be playing on the street in the dark. 4. Tesla has a “zoomed in” telephoto camera as one of the cameras under the windshield so it can actually see ahead far better than a human can. Plus the other night this car drove around a clump of dirt and rocks on the road at 50 mph. I didn’t even see it until the car had already quickly turned around it. I give you his speech here. But you gotta come up with better examples of why a car company needs to spend “low thousands” (his quote, not mine) per car more on LiDARs than that.

FSD V14.2.2.4 Cutting Through a Gas Station Parking Lot? I don't think I've ever seen FSD drive like this before, but on my drive this morning it happened twice in a row. Rather than proceed to the stop light, it cut into a gas station and drove through the parking lot, then did the same at the next intersection. Afterward, it pulled into a parking lot with "Do Not Enter" signs at the entrance and parked in a stall. The real issue is that I was navigating to a Tesla Supercharger nowhere near that parking lot.

FSD Beta 12: The One Where It Parks Itself After consistently having the car either park itself into a stall (if my destination was a parking lot) or pull to the curb out of the roadway (if the destination was on a street), I experienced this… Set the destination to a random alley in Downtown Sacramento. The car pulls into the alley, driving slow. Based on my previous experiences earlier in the drive it appears to be looking for a spot. Seems like it couldn’t find one it could fit into. Instead of stopping in the middle of the roadway (how v11 would have performed) the car rerouted itself around the block and back into the alley. When it gets back into the alley, it immediately parks into a parking stall instead of proceeding all the way to the destination. This is EXACTLY what I would have done if I was driving. After seeing there was no parking spots the first time, I would have driven around the block and parked in the first available spot I could find. Whether or not this is what actually happened is up for debate. But based on the previous 5 or so tests I performed before this, it really does seem like it was looking for a spot to park. I’ll post the video of the entire drive with the other parking examples later on today. Maybe Elon Musk can chime in as to what happened here?
