Jensen Huang explains the difference between AI and traditional Software and why there's no bubble. Traditional software was pre-compiled, meaning it was built once, stored, and then executed repeatedly with little computation. It didn’t need constant high-power processing once finished. Users simply ran the completed program as a tool.... AI, by contrast, generates its output in real time. It must process context, reason, and produce intelligence at the moment of use, not in advance. This requires ongoing computation for every request. Because of that, AI systems depend on continuous GPU power to “manufacture” responses like a factory producing tokens. Jensen is pushing back on the AI will kill all software narrative just like he pushed back last year on the DeepSeek panic. He was right then. He will be right again. "There's this notion that .. the software industry is in decline and will be replaced by AI. You could tell because there's a whole bunch of software companies whose stock prices are under a lot of pressure. Because somehow AI is going to replace them. It is the most illogical thing in the world and time will prove itself. .. If you were an artificial general intelligence, would you use the tools like ServiceNow and SAP and Cadence and Synopsys? Or would you reinvent a calculator? Of course, you would just use a calculator."

AI instead of UI The last few years radically changed how we think about digital products & product design process in general. What we are witnessing right now is a transition where AI is no longer just a feature; it is becoming the infrastructure of interaction. For decades, UI design was rooted in the concept of “Happy Path,” a series of static, linear screens (routes from A to B) designed to funnel users toward a goal. This “one-size-fits-all” approach assumes that all users have the same mental model, which is far from the truth. The rise of AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini is showing that we are moving into an era of Generative Interfaces. Instead of a designer pre-determining every button and menu, the interface is synthesized in real-time based on user actions. Back in 2019, Gleb Kuznetsov and I were working on the concept of morphing Interface, the idea of a UI that adapts its structure based on user intent. The great thing about this UI is that it was highly dynamic: different users saw different content/contextual actions based on their behavior. This concept was crazy in 2019, but it is highly relevant to the modern state of the product design process. And I strongly believe that it represents the future of UI design. We will move beyond the “AI chatbox" crutch Yes, many products today treat AI as a sidecar (think of Copilots or chatbots pinned to the side of a traditional dashboard), but this is a transitional phase. Why? Because adding a chat window to a 20-year-old software layout is like putting a jet engine on a horse-drawn carriage. That's why the future isn't "AI as an add-on"; it is AI as the Operating System. AI will power generative interfaces that are rooted in anticipatory design: UI won’t wait for a command; it will surface tools based on the user's current environmental context and historical behavior. This evolution changes the very nature of product design, and we will move away from designing pages/screens and toward designing systems of logic.

Because, Agentic AI will consume dramatically more tokens because it performs autonomous tasks, uses multiple systems, and interacts with tools. AI demand will grow hugely when software starts letting agents act, not just answer. A chatbot spends tokens on language; an agent spends tokens on deciding, checking, calling tools, reading outputs, revising plans, and coordinating with other software. Today a single human-AI exchange may be large, a reasoning task may be much larger, but we are already entering the agentic era, where an autonomous workflow can become exponentially larger still because the model is no longer producing one response. It is running a process. When a SaaS product redesigns itself around human-agent interaction, every task can become a chain of hidden micro-decisions, and each micro-decision consumes context, memory, tool calls, verification, and output tokens. Another point is people hear “more tokens” and think only of bigger data centers, when the deeper change is economic: software usage may stop being measured mainly by clicks, seats, or sessions. But the most important thing he said got almost no attention — that software companies are about to become the biggest resellers of AI tokens in the world. Think about what that means. Workday buys raw intelligence from OpenAI. Wraps it in HR domain expertise. Sells it back as an AI product at a massive markup. That’s not a software company anymore. That’s a refinery. I'm currently working with Spoki, an AI agentic conversational platform. After looking at this, you'll never think of a CRM the same way. A traditional CRM manages contact data.
