@LunixTwin "The idea that we'll be pushing around a lawnmower is already kind of silly." He's not wrong, but what I find is rarely accounted for, is how much humans genuinely enjoy things that can even be outsourced *right now.* ex: I love painting fences, but could be outsourced.

@LunixTwin The thing is. I really enjoy washing up. I really enjoy mowing the lawn. I enjoy making things. Things that could equally be made in China or India and bought cheap in the nearest poundland. People like to create. And I enjoy walking.

@LunixTwin They like the Star Wars version because there the droids have no agency or freedom. The truth will be more complicated.

@LunixTwin Fucking hate this guy. These anti human CEOs are so fucking weird. These things take our jobs, do all tasks like driving for us, for us to get home and have more time for them to then do everything at home for us lol just such a weird future everyone has a hardon for

@LunixTwin Yep ... a robot is like having your own tech boss and government spy in your closet. He pops out to vacuum, collect personal data, and feed you fibs. And every robot in the neighborhood learns and spies as a team.

@LunixTwin It will look like a scene from Star Wars with autonomous devices flying around and running over the ground doing tasks that humans don't want to do. This integration will allow humans to go into space and build space habitats using space hardened robots to mine materials.

@LunixTwin Plenty of people don't even buy a laptop (and if they do, turn it on for more than once a year), but they are going to adopt a high maintenance robot that might plot to kill them in their sleep. Sure.

@LunixTwin I saw a tweet once that compared that future with how the flintstones had dinosaurs as appliances that would talk to them, and am constantly reminded of how usability-wise that's almost the best example for the future that is being built, but with robots

The “everything that moves becomes robotic” line is probably underrated. Cars, lawnmowers, delivery bots, factory arms, home assistants — all of them are just endpoints for embodied AI. The robot revolution may look less like one big humanoid moment and more like intelligence quietly entering every moving object.

SF to Oregon with zero interventions is the absolute gold standard for showcasing FSD’s structural capabilities. The reduction in cognitive fatigue during heavy long-distance road trips is what makes this a literal life-changer, not just a premium driver assist feature. Once you adapt, legacy driving feels archaic. ⚡🇺🇸🚗

@LunixTwin He's a tech fabulist projecting an impossible future which - if it were a practical possibility - would destroy the economy and everyone dependent upon it. The tech hyperbole of the tech fabulists is irresponsible and based on their greed.

Jensen Huang: Physical AI is a $50T industry, in 3-5 years robots will be everywhere Nvidia's CEO on the coming explosion of robots in society Jensen: “ Physical AI, as a large category, is the technology industry's first opportunity to address a $50 trillion industry that has largely been void of technology until now.” “And so we need to invent all of the technology necessary to do that.” @jason: “We had this very weird, I don't know if I want to call it a lost decade or 20 years, of Boston Dynamics, Google bought a bunch of companies, they then wound up selling them and spinning them out, where people just thought, ‘Eh, robotics is just not ready for primetime.’” Jensen: “We invented the industry, largely. America invented it. You could argue we got into it too soon, and we got exhausted, we got tired about five years before the enabling technology appeared.” “We got tired of it just a little too soon. Okay, that's number one.” But it's here now.” “Now the question is how much longer? In three to five years, we're going to have robots all over the place.” Jason: “Elon seems to think we're going to have one robot for every human. 8 billion for 8 billion.” Jensen: “I'm hoping more. First of all, there's a whole bunch of robots that are going to be in factories working around the clock. There's going be a whole bunch of robots that don't move.” “Almost everything will be robotic.”
