Jensen Huang: I want my engineers to stop coding.

Solving problems is the main task of a software engineer, but if the use of AI generated code ends up creating even more problems, then they need to write the code themselves.

so, does he wants them to vibecode?

If it doesn't WRITE software, then it's not a software engineer anymore. Find another name for it, but don't deform the original meaning of what a software engineer is supposed to do. Invent a new name or if lacking verbal creativity, call it a software architect, or metacompiler prompter, or anything that will actually match reality. Or we'll end up with software engineers who cannot write a basic program in C that compiles.

Rich people say a lot of nonsense, how do software engineers solve problems without coding ? If they don’t code at all, what problems are they solving and how would they be solving it ? If AI can code better then most of them would lost their job.

I don't even know what that means. Sounds like a bunch of meaningless platitudes rich people like to say.

NVIDIA might be cooked

The AI industrial complex hard at work trying to sell an idea for why any company really needs AI.

His employees

problems have the real moat.

Solve one problem, another gets created. Never ending

That's any engineer, solving problems with creative and critical ideas that haven't yet been implemented. Inventors with a different name.

I was sharing this exact quote with @bratrat earlier this week. I agree. Vibe coding was always what the senior engineers did

Completely outrageous thought: What if people enjoy coding more than solving problems. And they only solve problems because that allows them to code?

Efficiently used AI is a co-pilot, more than a replacement. We discussed it in one of the episodes of "The Inference" by Warden - agents will support developers.

being creative > everything

AI as a co-pilot, not replacement. teams still solving problems, just faster

"stop coding, start solving problems" this is the shift. engineers who cling to "i write code" as their identity are in trouble the ones who see themselves as problem solvers with coding as ONE tool in the kit? they're thriving jensen sees the future clearly

The purpose of any job can be ultimately redefined as "solve problems" though (e.g. solve this cancer, solve flagging revenue, etc) What makes a "software eng" a software eng is in fact that they solve problems by writing code. But the job is changing.

"Solve problems" wow no way!.. please. Everyone solves problems. Lawyers, doctors, mechanics, psychologists. Software engineers solve software problems. If AI is going to do that now, guess what, you need to change careers, it is what it is. I remain a little skeptical still.

As a software developer, I like coding, it’s my thing. I’ve been doing it for most of my life. Saying that my purpose is 'to solve problems' is incorrect: my purpose is to build cool stuff and be creative, so that at the end of the day I feel happy and energized. AI can be a great help, but if creativity is taken away and my job is reduced to merely steering AI, I’m out.

For 20 years I thought coding made me happy. AI took coding away, and the happiness remained. It turns out building, solving, and shipping made me happy. Coding was only a way to get there.

Dude thinks we are so retarded as his shareholders, and will listen this crap

He wants to sound innovative but is brain dead. "I tell my accountants to not do math because calculators"

Jensen is 100% right. AI helps fulfil the purpose of jobs. Radiologists are being hired more and are diagnosing better thanks to AI. But if your job's purpose is executing same task everyday then somebody using AI will replace you. I'm no coder, I'm a creative problem solver.

Now it is clear So we need LLM agents to create problems, so we can use LLM Agent to solve the problems

My point to the question you asked @ApersonLyeque ai will help you do task but not solve problems. Would love ai to do my task and i get to find more problems

The shift is real. Teams that master prompting and architecture over syntax will outpace those still coding boilerplate. The bottleneck moves from implementation to design thinking and domain expertise.

Coding was always the low hanging fruit of the job.

Exactly stop been a coder and start been a software engineer

Right people, right place, right time

Only the filthy stinking peasants learn to code.

And who will code AI then? Or does he want only his engineers to know how to code, and the rest of the world only uses their solutions?

Jensen: "Stop coding, AI will do it" Also Jensen: Sells $3 trillion worth of GPUs to companies that need... engineers to code AI systems 💀 The man created demand for MORE developers while telling them to quit That's not a vision, that's marketing 😭

Yeah, stop writing code yourself. Use AI for that, it's easy, better, and faster.

This is insightful of Huang. I do my best work not when given a task or problem that needs a solution, but, when I search for problems because I have nothing specific to do. This is where innovation occurs. It’s called engineering.
