Jim Thompson moved from County Down 20 years ago and started with 100 acres & 120 cows on Thistle Dairy in Wisconsin. Now milking 5000 cows and owns 2000 acres. Today cows averaging 45 litres and producing over 4kg of milk solids !

Today I visited a cattle keeper in Edgerton, Minnesota who has 1500 cows living in a total space of 60000 sq ft (a soccer field has 81,000 sq ft). The farm has 2 full time workers (himself and his son) and will occasionally hire services of a vet, an agronomist and a nutritionist. He grows maize on 700 acres and hay on 100 acres to feed the cows. That is 0.5 acres for each cow! A cow that comes in at 220kgs is sold after 300 days with 700kgs. Every activity at the farm is efficient - for example food is delivered to all animals under 15 minutes!

This truck is transporting dairy cows that farmers no longer want. Perhaps they are producing less milk or failing to calve. The average age of slaughter for a dairy cow in the U.K. is around 6 1/2 years. During this time she will have given birth ~4 times, and produced 32,000 litres of milk. Mama Alice Kalya gave me good insights on crossbreeding of dairy and beef cows for purposes of improving the quality of milk and beef. I left with several Brahman-Friesian bullying heifers, a stomach full of mursik and enormous knowledge. For healthy living, order mursik and beef from her.

They would be fed the same grains from the distilleries, made these cows extremely unhealthy. These cows got tuberculosis... disease was rampant. The pasteurization process made this milk drinkable without killing you." He explains why the dairy industry is more responsible for milk related infections than raw dairy farms. "The chief fear from drinking raw milk is E. Coli... when the cows eat a lot of grain, their rumen becomes acidic. They have evolved to withstand the acid in their rumen, so now when we consume it, the acid in our stomach doesn't kill it" "The reason we're in this position with raw milk being demonized... mostly it's money. There's a lot of money in the dairy industry. They have sway with the media, with state and federal governments. It's a large industry with a powerful lobby."

I will never live in another place that has neighbors. 12 years ago moved into this one and it’s just peace. I grew up in Norwood Colorado on 40 acres with only one neighbor and they were friends. I did spend 10 years in town and hated it from day one.

Anastasia and her twin brother, Milton, were born on a small, local dairy farm. 🐮🐮 When a female is born with a twin male, she's most often infertile and can't be made pregnant. 👀 Because she therefore couldn't produce milk, and Milton, as a male, is seen as a "byproduct" in the dairy industry - both were destined to be killed. 😰 Thankfully, they were rescued by Catskill Animal Sanctuary, but sadly they could not save their mother as she was already producing milk and therefore 'valuable' to the farm. 💔 🎥: catskill_animal_sanctuary (IG) #dairy #cows #babyanimals #rescueanimals #animalsanctuary

They sent me a video of my cocoa harvest today. I planted the seedlings some four years ago from proceeds I earned as a research writer on fiver. I bought 8 acres of farmland and planted cocoa on it. When i started, I didn't know I'd one day be fully invest in farming. Today, I have close to 40 acres of farmland and still hoping to hit 100 acres before the year ends. In the second frame is the oil palm and cocoa nursery for a 20 acre famrland i just cleared and preparing for the planting season. You are welcome to my farm journey.
