Dan Crenshaw is the Republican Congressman from the 2nd District of Texas. Prior to his political career, he served as a United States Navy SEAL for 10 years. Pilot of the helicopter that crashed into the Hudson River yesterday has been identified as 36-year-old Navy SEALs veteran Sean Johnson. Sean Johnson posted a video on his Facebook page on March 27, showing himself over Lower Manhattan in a Bell 206 helicopter. He had previously flown in Chicago, according to his profile. After his time in the U.S. Navy as a SEAL and gunner’s mate responsible for fixing equipment, Johnson took on a variety of jobs, including on a TV show and as a bodyguard for celebrities, his wife said. But through it all, Kathryn added, he “always wanted to fly.”

Social media and the Mainstream Media is completely unloading on Ron DeSantis for allegedly claiming during GOP debates that he "was a Navy SEAL." Ron DeSantis was not ever a Navy SEAL. However, it's important to be fair and honest here. DeSantis' own words should be taken in context. He never actually stated that he was a Navy SEAL. What he specifically said was, "I think it should be voluntary, I'm someone that volunteered to serve, inspired by September 11 and I deployed to Iraq alongside U.S. Navy SEALs in places like Fallujah, Ramadi." DeSantis was a member of the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG), and was deployed alongside U.S. Navy SEALs. His comments could be considered a bit misleading but many people attacking him on Social Media are being even more misleading with their accusations.
