is right to laugh it’s beyond absurd. The Pentagon, with its $824 billion annual budget, has never passed an audit. Meanwhile, average Americans are getting hammered for $600 Venmo payments and could end up in federal prison for a mistake on their taxes. The government has no problem demanding every cent from us, but when it comes to their own books? Crickets. We’re basically funding the biggest black hole in accounting history, and they have the nerve to lecture us about responsibility.

The Pentagon is the only federal agency that has never passed an audit. $825 billion in 2024 and that was their 7th consecutive failed audit. 8th this year. Congress required every agency to pass an annual audit by 1996. The Pentagon didn’t even try until 2018. In 2017, an MSU economist found $21 trillion in unsupported accounting adjustments on Army and Air Force ledgers from 1998 to 2015. It’s hopeless. But make sure you document your finances for the IRS.
