"Those of you who made it this far will be wondering, okay, Maajid, you've shown that (PM Burnham's sanctions are) performative, you've shown that it lacks substance, you've shown it's all about politicking, but what do you want to see happen? What we want to see happen is the only thing that can happen. The realistic and pragmatic and practical solution to the problem is the only thing anyone should want to see happen because all else is fantasy. You know, you could sit here And fantasise all you like about a one state solution with equal rights for all that allows equally Palestinian Muslims and Israeli Jews to compete in free and fair elections in one country. The problem there, of course, is that Israel would never allow that because it would mean the end of Israel as a country. And likewise, there are multiple other fantasies which are simply impractical. We're having that same debate here in Britain right now. What is the culture of Britain? Should Britain remain a Christian country and the Christian religion, of course, the Church of England is the established religion of the United Kingdom. So that debate isn't just an Israeli debate and it's unfair to depict it as just an Israeli debate should the character of Israel remain Jewish. For that reason, Israel will never allow a one state with equal rights for all because the Palestinians, once they outnumber the Israelis, which is where they're headed, would end up voting Israelis out and it would become a Palestinian state and there would be no Israel. So the Israelis are not going to allow that without war, right? That is just a description of fact, but whatever you think of it, that's just a description of fact the Israelis will not allow that without war. So the only solution that you should hope for is the practical, pragmatic solution that has a chance of actually succeeding. What is that? And that is peace negotiations, that both sides come to terms. For sides to come to terms, they need a mediator. And of course, that mediator has to be somebody with strength that can actually enforce. That's only the United States of America and only President Trump has so far been able to succeed in mediating in that way. So what should happen is that whatever happens in the Israeli elections coming up, whoever wins, after those elections, Trump resumes with the Gaza peace plan. And that's the key point here. As left wingers, these people would like to think they are. Hamas has agreed to this deal. Who are you, Zack Polanski? Who are you, Corbyn? Who are you, Bernie Sanders or anyone else on the radical left to veto a plan that not only the Palestinians have agreed to, but even Hamas has agreed to? And that's the point here, that it's for the people of that area to decide their own future. They've agreed to Trump's peace board. They have joined it.
