John makes this argument at length here

The caveat of "I haven't seen it" should have ended it right there. Spending that long talking about a director's intent and interpretation and providing an analysis of it WHEN YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT is hilariously uninformed and dishonest.

Stopped listening the second the guest said he hasn’t watched the movie. Waste of time

did you hear the part about his degree in Ancient Greek studies and analysis of how Wilson's translation would inevitably doom Nolan?

No because he started with, I haven’t watched the movie. Did you not read the comment? lol

of course I read the comment, that was my point! you're free to tune out for that reason, I'm just saying I don't think it's a good reason because people can still absolutely have interesting things to say. I did a whole segment with VDH recently before the movie was even out and it was fascinating.

“Fascinating” lmao

It’s quite shocking how you have complete difference of opinions on your own show vs breaking points. Why are you afraid to voice these views when around Krystal and Ryan? Let that christo fascists flag fly Emily.

once again: name one single opinion that is different. just one. i even brought John on Breaking Points to talk about this lol

Glad you asked. Not this segment as I was highlighting that your religious zealotry increases tenfold on your podcast. But your immigration views differ. On breaking points you frame it around security, wages, asylum, etc. On After Party you frame it around cultural impact

Breaking points framing is analytical. (Albeit wrong) Your “cultural” argument of immigration are talking points of nationalist fascist. It’s also anti American to argue against having an influx of cultures in America as America is a melting pot of all cultures & languages.

That was a great explanation. I had to read Illiad and Odyssey in college for Greek Mythology. I remember very little, except maybe the kindness of my professor who allowed me to reschedule my final. Didn't do great on it, I think.

similar to 1984 redone by Seth Rogan where the communists are the victims and the capitalists are the vilians

Have you seen the movie? It's fantastic. Not woke at all.

Truly gaseous and assumptive. Aside the utter stupidity of him opining on and on without even having seen the film, for a guy who claims to have studied ancient Greek and Homer, he comes off as a walking Cliffnote. Total fucking intellectual bimbo.

Jesus!it's a good epic movie pleasing millions including spencer klavan..these think pieces are SO irritating /give it a rest!!!

Thank God we don't have to see that dirt bag's face from ME anymore! My God that's a relief.

It is a dank drab misinterpretation of the original story that plays to base audience that seems to always be at the trough to feed on how un-fantastic man kind is. Bronze age architecture was built to amaze the eye. This director hid the color pallet and wasted my time.

Movies are ephemeral things. Homer will still be read (or uploaded to brain component) 1M years from now. Not worth getting upset about.

I don't understand why not just see the movie??
