conceptualizing this as an instagram beachhead to teach people how to look people in the eyes while talking is pretty funny

haha point taken

What if you actually did jack shit all weekend like you just did nothing other than eat the same food you always eat and like participate in the same hobbies you always participate in and do nothing new nor interesting enough to bring into conversation with another person like uh

Killer video. "Handles" and semantic and associative search are spot-on about how (good) conversations work. At the end of the day you *do* need interests or outlooks or values or experiences in common for it to go *that far*, but getting better in these ways opens up so much more of life to you... a lot more luck surface. I think the basics of learning to listen are really underrated too.

I agree with all of this and now I’m curious, for the people who are not initiating conversations could this potentially give them an easy way out of having to be an active participant when people talk, like on my end yes I’ll give more but on their end shouldn’t they also be asking questions and inquiring without me leaving breadcrumbs after every sentence.

I’m not with all that ethnic english you be speaking cuh I don’t condone it I don’t speak it I avoid it That’s why you struggle at conversations cuh

Am I at autistic boot camp

thx for that handy tip! btw you're a brilliant orator :) (recently watched speech of yours) what did you study, if I may ask?

Land Economy (Economics + Law)!

honestly, this should be mandatory viewing

real

doesn't work for me because now i've made five different associations from the topic to the next and keep changing topics every minute, soon we're talking about something that has nothing to do with the original topic

Loved this! Such a simple tactic that can do wonders for your conversations

@johnohannesian I was telling u this the other day u never listen

r u british or irish

from England!

ight mate

this this this

next unicorn: toastmasters, but conversational skills, not speeches (for awkward tech workers)

Communicating information is very early 2000s this is just what your parents told you is "normal"

But what if, you actually did nothing? :)

speak

"Handles" point is good. If I tell somebody I went swimming and their first response is to tell me a story about them swimming in childhood, I'd think they were a narcissist😂

Be an annoying yapper, got it

when zoomers invent talking

I

This all depends on if you want to talk more or not. If you are not feeling a convo, just saying "it was good" is enough, technically.

you also have to lower the stakes. Social media makes you think you need to develop the cure for cancer on the weekend. But you can just say something simple like "I drank some new orange juice and it was super sweet" honestly works over "it was good".

@readwise save

Even in the example if they actually answered “I hate vanilla lattes, I prefer black coffee” that also kills the conversation, now they need this video.

I stopped having convos with people because most of them talk total rubbish

So clear, thank you

I tried out this new coffeeshop lol

If someone said they went to a coffee shop and had a lovely vanilla late, I'd leave the conversation.

Most times I want people to STFU respectfully

i love the way u speak
