jungkook is actually a whole physics genius, theoretical and applied both. He has not only told us several factoids but also uses physics principles to easily do things which seem difficult.

and he scored 95 in chemistry & physics both which in my personal experience as a science student is very hard bc kids are usually good at either one, not both. he's so humble and often talks about how he doesn't like to study, which is all good, but he's a whole brainiac!

i see some qrts talking about 3 in english and I would like to point that Korea is not exposed to english as other nations are. most koreans do not know english. jungkook prioritized learning english when he wanted to and now he's amazing people with it.

I just adored how he had already won the one with the bottles but didn't keep the knowledge to himself, he freely and eagerly shared it with his people so they had the same success he had. Man, I miss him...

Elon Musk on why physics is the only law you can't break "Physics is the law, and everything else is a recommendation. I've met a lot of people who can break the law, but I haven't met anyone who could break physics" "For any kind of technology problem, you have to make sure you're not violating physics. First-principles analysis can be applied to really any walk of life" "It's really just saying, let's boil something down to the most fundamental principles, the things we are most confident are true at a foundational level. That sets your axiomatic base, and then you reason up from there"

ELON: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND STUDYING PHYSICS “I studied physics and I certainly strongly recommend physics as a good grounding to understand the nature of reality. Physics is fundamentally just understanding how the universe actually works. And then that's a good foundation for then a variety of engineering disciplines. I think also the analytical principles, the sort of analytical constructs used in physics apply to basically anything. Physics developed all these ways of thinking, like first-principles thinking, thinking about things in the limit, high and low, testing your hypothesis. It's the scientific principle, essentially. These things are incredibly helpful in all arenas.” Source: Axel Springer Pioneer's Talk, December 2020

Elon Musk on first principles. "A good framework for thinking is physics… first principles reasoning." "Boil things down to their fundamental truths and reason up from there, as opposed to reasoning by analogy." Most of life runs on analogy — copy what others do with slight variations, because that's how you get through the day. New work can't. If the answer isn't already on the shelf, you have to drop to physics: what's actually true, then build up. • Analogy = copy + tweak • First principles = fundamental truths, then reason up • Something new → physics approach "But when you want to do something new, you have to apply the physics approach."

Physics is fundamentally just understanding how the universe actually works. That's a good foundation for a variety of engineering disciplines. The analytical constructs used in physics [like first-principles thinking] apply to basically anything. Most people tend to think by analogy or by comparison with something that already exists. This is a mental shortcut that requires less brain strain, but it's hard to get fundamental insights unless you think about things from a first-principles standpoint.” Axel Springer Award, December 1, 2020

Math has a proof checker. Can physics get one? Jonathan Gorard Jonathan Gorard, an applied mathematician and the cofounder and CEO of Lanyon AI, joins to explain why AI took off in math and coding but not yet in physics. We discuss an AI finishing the formal check of a Fields Medal proof and why it scared him, why he thinks “I detected a particle” rests on 20 to 50 levels of theory, and what Alan Turing’s PhD student Robin Gandy tried to build for physics. The conversation also covers his push to make physics executable, why he thinks mysteries are artifacts of description languages, and whether there is still a place for the physicist.

Elon’s entire engineering philosophy in one sentence: “Physics is the law, and everything else is a recommendation” "Physics is a harsh judge, and there's no fooling physics. If something's wrong, the rocket's going to explode. It's not going to get to orbit. So it's not like, "Elon, you're amazing," meanwhile the rockets are blowing up. It's hard to say you're really kicking ass here when the rockets are exploding.....that's just not the case Generally, the rockets need to get to orbit, the satellites need to work, the Starlink connection needs to work, or bad things happen. This is sort of a physics situation, and physics is a harsh judge. I say physics is the law, and everything else is a recommendation. I've seen people break the laws made by humans, but I've not seen anyone break the laws made by physics. And rockets are ruled by physics"

"The mathematics of string theory is probably one of the most beautiful artifacts humanity has created. In order to even produce something in theoretical physics, there's hundreds of years of literature that you need to catch up on, and also every day there's, 100 new papers that come out. And before you can contribute to theoretical physics, you need to know basically all of math, like algebraic topology, differential equations, algebraic geometry, and these are all things that people will spend their careers going in on, and yet to do the physics, you need to at least have, a pretty deep understanding of these things. And so it really teaches you how to have, good judgment with minimal information." Matan Grinberg studied physics for a decade, eventually dropping out of his PhD focused on string theory to found Factory.

A full fledged war between India and Pakistan will ultimately result a defeat of both the countries and also a defeat of the whole world. War will destroy everything. Starting a war is very easy but bringing peace is very difficult. Let us do the difficult work.

Elon Musk: - "Physics is the law and everything else is a recommendation!" - "I've seen many people break human-made laws, but I have not seen anyone break the laws of physics." As AI becomes more capable, the only law it will really have to obey is the law of physics. -- to me that's a powerful argument: AI specifications will mutate and evolve and we shouldn't really expect any fundamental constants. The only reasonable assumption we can make is that these systems, being really capable, will be able to reason from "first principles" with impressive accuracy and efficiency.

"Good things should be difficult to obtain. Things easily achieved are not very meaningful and will not be very lasting. But for that to come about, we have to DO the things to help that become reality." Success is born from consistency and relentless effort, not shortcuts.

A theoretical physics course opens not with equations but with the rules for saying anything true at all. This is lecture 1 of Lectures on the Geometric Anatomy of Theoretical Physics, taught by Frederic Schuller. The topic is propositional and predicate logic. Most physics courses assume logic and start with mechanics. Schuller refuses. Before manifolds, before tensors, before a single physical claim, he builds the language the claims will be written in. The audience is advanced students who have already met the physics. He is going back under it and rebuilding the floor. Watch how precisely he states each rule, then shows what collapses if you loosen it. No appeals to intuition anywhere in the hour. A machine learning engineer I know worked through the first 10 lectures and said proofs stopped feeling like a different profession. Free on YouTube, green chalkboard, German lecture hall. Everyone starts with the physics. He started with what counts as true.
