Here’s what the communication was like after Helene hit WNC. It’s beyond horrible, and these people still need so much help. So many there believe they have been forgotten. That’s so sad. There are people in our state and federal government who need to see the inside of a jail cell for a long time. Do you think it’s a coincidence that there is land the government wanted, and it just so happens that this same land gets flooded? Problem solved…All the people who wouldn’t sell are not a problem now. They are either gone or everything they owned is gone with no way to rebuild. COINCIDENCE?

Shuler: If you think about every industrial revolution we’ve been through, working people have helped us make that transition. It’s really because we’ve helped tame the technology and figured out how to use it in the most effective way. So I think your question about augmentation versus replacement is the big question we have. If we can all agree that this is about making our jobs better, safer, easier, and more productive, then we’re all in. But if you’re looking to de-skill, dehumanize, and replace workers, to put people out on the street with no path forward, then absolutely you’re going to have a revolution. So I think that’s something we all need to be very real about and think seriously about. If we’re going to have productivity gains, working people—the ones who make these industries happen—need to share in that. There hasn’t been a lot of discussion about that here. Of course, in terms of how we create policies, how we create tax infrastructure, whether or not we are redistributing—yes, that word is a dirty word around here—we need to talk about it and confront how we’re going to make sure working people share in the gains of these technologies. The uncomfortable truth is that some beliefs are held for the same reason some people buy Rolexes: they look good in public. In the same way that many people buy expensive material possessions, not because they especially like the possession itself, but because they know it will impress other people, there are people who express luxury beliefs not simply because they believe them, but because they know those beliefs will bring them clout and status. So the motivation behind the luxury good and the luxury belief is often very similar. But many people convince themselves that their motives are completely sincere. Take a guy who buys a Lamborghini. If you ask him why he bought it, he might say, “Look, it makes me feel confident. I like driving it. It makes me feel good. That’s why I bought it. I’m not trying to impress anyone.” And I think part of you might suspect, “Well, all of that may be true. But I also think part of you likes the fact that when people see you in that Lamborghini, they think of you in a certain way.” The same thing can happen with luxury beliefs. People may sincerely believe what they are saying. But part of me thinks that, somewhere deep down, there is also a sense of satisfaction that comes from expressing a belief and having your peers, your social circle, and other similarly credentialed elites applaud you for it. They think, “What a compassionate, interesting, sophisticated person you are for holding that view.” A belief can be sincerely held while also conferring status to the speaker.

I just had to post one more video, of all of you wonderful people who have entered my world. I am so grateful to see that there is truly something that is connecting us, even though many of you i have not even met🌞 It makes me hopeful. Especially when i know many of us will continue to be good warriors for the world and the people out there who need us right now. Just like one day, we might need them. I love you all. And i am glad to be surrounded by so many people who dares to think for themselves. It’s overwhelming to be so informed, and in touch but still out of touch with the world. BUT i know when people get arrested for simply doing what they have to right to do as people - freedom of speech Then it’s the time to keep speaking. Shout even.

🦮: the real reason I wanted to volunteer at a dog shelter is that there are so many dogs and cats in the world without a family or home. So if you find out through this video and if you’re ready to adopt a pet then please look into it. Besides the shelter I visited today, there are a lot of shelters across Korea so if you are interested please look into it. But you have to be ready to have a pet! Seriously! As a person who has a dog too, I want you to adopt when you are fully prepared!
