Just a brutal send by the 3B coach here and a controversial call by the home plate umpire

Two outs so the send is fine. But the runner’s established path is already on the grass and doesn’t deviate more than 3 feet to avoid the tag. Horrendous call by HP umpire.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an “out of the baseline” called that close to home especially when the catcher is literally blocking the base path to begin with 🤷‍♂️

It can't be both a brutal send and a controversial call. Make up your mind.

I don’t think that is a baseline violation. The runner is out wide to begin with along the foul grass line. He stays on that line the entire time and appears to go (mostly) straight up to avoid the tag.

I don’t think the ump understands the base path rules.

The runner seems to have kept running in a straight line and that took him past the plate. I understand that is not running out of the baseline. MLB should clarify.
