Just did a quick shadow hack to avoid stretched shadows at steep light angles. During the shadow pass, I rotate the billboard toward the sun and push it along the light direction to prevent self shadowing. Works really well, so happy :> ! #gamedev #indiedev

discovered the best hack ever so now I'm going to create something that is so frutigery (it's the aero light ray texture on the window that I thought was impossible to make it not move while the entire window moves and it works on both Sketch and Figma)

I downloaded this clip because I was looking at the wildfire filter and saw flashes along California fault line coming from Nevada and up the California valley along the San Andreas Fault line. I just ran across it and what caught my eye is a shadow of something travelling from top left to down bottom left side of the screen. Is that a cloud making the shadow? What is it? Anyways, tell me what you think.

Did you know a rainbow is a full circle? A rainbow is formed when sunlight is refracted (bent), reflected inside raindrops, and then refracted again as it exits. This process sends light out at a specific angle — about 42° from the direction opposite the sun — forming a cone of light. If you trace all those angles around your shadow, they form a complete circle. From the ground, the horizon cuts off the bottom half of the circle, so we usually see just a semicircular arc. You can see the entire circle if you’re high up — in an airplane, on a tall mountain, or looking down from a cliff. Here is a view from an airplane over NE Mississippi last night from David Null

This little one has nothing but love for her shadow. 😍 But that’s not how all toddlers react. Young children experience light and shadow from birth. But as they become mobile, their OWN shadows become more and more evident. And this can be a little terrifying. I’ve run across dozens of videos of toddlers scared to death of the kid-shaped apparitions trailing them around. One way to help neutralize this fear is to engage in some proactive shadow play with your toddler. Using a flashlight (or the natural lighting in your home), show off - and discuss - your own shadow on a wall and encourage your child to play along. Demystifying their origins can go a long way toward making shadows commonplace and fun for your child - as they clearly are for this sweet little one. How did/does your toddler react to the sight of their shadow - and how did you help them them gain comfort with it? This terrific video was shared by a parent with the request it remain anonymous. I’m grateful to be able to share it. (If you have interesting video of your own that you’d be willing to share, please let me know!)
