JUST IN: Hurricane Lala has triggered a potentially catastrophic Flash Flood Emergency for the SE portion of Hawaii’s Big Island, where extreme rain totals totals of up to ~30 IN have created life-threatening floodwaters in and around Nā’ālehu. Two homes have reportedly been swept away, and further rainfall is expected.

Hurricane Polo regained Category 5 strength early Friday with 180-mph winds. It will help to enhance the development of scattered storms and bump up rain chances during that time frame. Shown below are not rainfall totals, but atmospheric moisture levels. Normally Florida is around 1.8" this time of the year and you'll notice the tropical wave brings us up to around 2.1"...helping to bring in more storms. #Florida
