Just look at these systems from CPS... they show what hyper-optimized automation actually looks like. Product arrives flat, a racetrack mechanism flips it upright, rows get grouped, and a bomb-door system drops the whole batch into the case. Fast, reliable, and dead simple. I don't see any serious humanoid... adoption on the shop floor. Purpose-built machinery keep winning the speed and cost debate... at least for some more time to come. Packing flexible bags into cases looks easy until you try doing it at scale across different pouch formats. Seeing setups like this always brings up two questions for me. First, how does a flashy humanoid like Figure actually compare to a dedicated machine like this in the real world? Humanoids get all the media attention, but when it comes to raw throughput, uptime, and ROI on a specific packaging line, specialized kinematics usually wipe the floor with general-purpose robots. Second, how long until European regulations try to over-engineer safety or compliance rules around setups like this? While engineers are trying to innovate and speed up factory floors, we seem remarkably good at inventing new regulatory hurdles that slow down deployment across Europe. Just the model, a tiny canvas, and up to 2000 brushstrokes. This guy in the back coming down the ramp into the parking garage honks his horn at the car in front of him. The car in front of him is waiting for two cars in front of himself to get into the parking garage. The guy at the front of the line is having issues with the parking ticket machine. First this guy in the back honks, then he gets out of his car and stares like that is going to change something. Then he walks over and tells the second car to move up and then he starts to walk over to the guy at the ticket machine like he’s going to hurry him along too, like he’s actually doing something to move the line along. Are we being lied to about the meaning of life? That’s the question at the heart of this debate. So I brought together three different perspectives. A believer, an atheist, and a spiritual thinker, to try to get closer to an answer. Many of you will know Dr K, but for the first time we’re joined by Greg Koukl and Alex O’Connor. Dr K is a psychiatrist who works directly with people at their lowest, and he’s learned how to turn those struggles into lessons we can all use. Greg is a Christian thinker who says meaning is real, not invented, and that purpose flows from our creator. Alex is a philosopher who looks at life's toughest questions, from death to whether life has any real meaning at all. We started with the uncomfortable numbers about how many young people say life feels like it lacks purpose, and the shifts we’re seeing in faith and belonging. It’s clear something is happening in the way we all think about life.

Farewell to International Space Station! This is truly a special place, special mission, and special team that makes it happen. It is a bittersweet departure today – I have a keen awareness that I may never be back here, and even if I was, it would be at a different time with a different crew. This chapter is over. Spaceflight has always been a life goal, and it has turned into a life-fulfilling endeavor – but not for the reasons I thought growing up. When I was young, I pictured the launch, the incredible ball of fire and the acceleration, the spacewalks (how could you not wonder what it’s like to be in that suit?), and I was fascinated by the shuttles, capsules, and stations. But as I complete this second mission living and working in space, what draws me to this job is the people. Experiences like this are amazing, but the relationships we build that make it possible are the “why.” Every day, this mission depends on people from all over the world, of different nationalities, races, religions, and cultures. It depends on government and commercial entities, it depends on all political parties, and it depends on commitment to an unchanged goal over many years and decades. It depends on people dedicated to being part of something bigger than themselves, whose names may never be known but who wake up every day to make the world a better place and to be part of something they will be proud to tell their grandkids about. History will look kindly upon them. Humans have always had a propensity to explore … across lands and oceans, up mountains, and into the sky. We as a species will never stop wondering what else is out there, and what it would be like to go. But then, in the words of TS Elliot, “…at the end of all our exploring, will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time.” Crew-10 is on its way home.

Just when you thought claw machines couldn’t be more of a scam. Try operating it from your phone. But there's something here that I really like. I can't quite articulate what it is yet. I know a setup like this for many people would look cool and convenient but hear me out. I would only utilize something like this while parked in a camping area with other people. I would not use this by myself in the middle of the woods like this. I don’t feel they are safe and I’ll explain why. First off and most importantly, I don’t see a safe way to secure it. It’s all thin plastic sheeting meant to be waterproof but can be easily cut to gain access. If anyone wanted to cause harm or rob you, all they have to do is cut through the sheeting and they would have access to everything. It wouldn’t be hard to break into this. Then I look at how long it takes to setup, while it shows one person can set this up by themselves. Look at how long it takes to do this, it’s very impractical. I feel something like this that’s an add on to a vehicle should be much easier, like pushing a button and everything is pops out by itself. In an emergency I couldn’t imagine trying to fold things back in the right way while trying to escape. Could you imagine trying to outrun a bear in this only for it to be ripped off by tree branches cause you couldn’t fold it in time? The scenario I’m thinking of is what if I am being chased by a wild animal like a wolf or a bear. I couldn’t just hop in my Jeep and take off with this setup. Everything is folded out and tethered into the ground. It’s not like a traditional tent I could leave behind. If I was out camping with friends for a few days I think this could be ok. But doing a van life of camping for months at a time during the summer months wouldn’t be safe or practical as a solid unit like a standard RV. I wouldn’t be comfortable or safe in something like this.

I miss building simple, working software. At some point, we decided to complicate everything for no reason. Today, people can't build anything without using three frameworks, 17 libraries, and a swarm of microservices. And here is a funny paradox: To understand how these complex systems work, we've had to build systems and tools that generate data we can later analyze. But the more data we produce, the harder it is to process and make sense of it. We are in the middle of an observability crisis. The tools we have are inefficient, and we don't have enough people to keep systems running. A few weeks ago, I met the team Resolve AI, and they have built a fundamentally new approach to observability and incident management: Instead of depending on humans to run a system, Resolve built a Production Software Engineer who runs the system using AI while letting people supervise. And it's not only crazy, but I think this will fundamentally change how we monitor and maintain systems in production for years to come. I recorded a quick video to showcase a simple example of how Resolve works behind the scenes. There are two main things I'd like you to notice: 1. The tool can correlate data across logs, metrics, and traces coming from different systems. You don't have to do any work to get the information that matters right in front of you. 2. (This is the big one!) The tool can diagnose what's happening and give you instructions on how to solve it. It can produce causal relationships across the entire system stack. Resolve is backed by investors like Replit's founder Amjad Masad, Reid Hoffman, Jeff Dean, Fei Fei Li, Andy Price, among others. They are currently working with a select number of companies and want to onboard a few more.
