NAVIAI-I3, a more robust humanoid robot, was launched by the Zhejiang Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center. Standing 1.8 meters tall, it can run like a human and walk on various terrains. This humanoid robot appears to be primarily designed for specialized industrial tasks, such as security patrols in underground parking lots. "I think everybody's making this push for humanoid robots. I think they might have a five-year lifespan and then they'll fail miserably. Maybe 10." His prediction covers more than just the machines. This is Figure III announced today. I’m sorry but every other form factor besides humanoids will be crushed 🦾🤖🦾 I keep hearing people starting specialized robotics companies, “like robots for laundry”. And the pitch is: “you don’t need a humanoid form factor to do laundry, it can be much simpler”. That’s true. But, humanoids can do everything and will become the default form factor and so will be mass manufactured and so will be extremely cheap compared to lower volume robots. Its so obvious, it will be humanoids doing laundry, not a specialized laundry robot 🤦‍♂️ The one main exception to that might be line work in a factory where you do just need the arms and you can mass manufacture them (a al Proception)

Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla's AI lead, during a GTC discussion, highlighting the fundamental similarity in AI approaches for self-driving cars and humanoid robots: - Hierarchical decision making is useful, but it has to be done as part of the same decision-making process as lower-level controls. - We haven't seen the long tail of humanoid robotics, but Tesla has seen the long tail of self-driving, where high and low-level decisions have to be jointly made at a pretty high framerate. - Optimus's architecture is designed in a similar way, where there's a hierarchy but it's all running as part of the same model and the latencies involved in decision making are well modeled. - This architecture will scale quite well with humanoid robots. - The distinction of the decision-making levels is only in the developer's mind. For the model, it's a continuous space of decision making, where there are dials available to make them more fine or coarse. - Humanoids have more sensor modalities and higher degrees of freedom compared to self-driving, but the fundamental constraints remain the same: you need to make real-time decisions. There's obviously a hierarchy to these control signal outputs, but the lowest frequency cannot be too low, because the safety of the robot cannot depend upon things running at very low frequencies.

Turning video into humanoid robot motion! 🤳🏼 Training humanoid robots needs huge amounts of motion data, but real-world capture doesn’t scale. Mocap is expensive, dangerous edge cases are rare, and you can’t ask humans to repeatedly fall or crash. Video2Robot tackles this by converting videos into physics-grounded humanoid simulations. Motion is generated to respect balance, inertia, ground contact, and joint limits, then directly retargeted to robot simulators. One prompt can generate a full humanoid motion sequence, including multi-agent interactions and failure cases like falls or collisions, scenarios that are hard or impossible to capture safely in the real world. The pipeline is model-agnostic and works with existing video generators, making it a practical way to scale data for robots. If robots are going to operate in the real world, they need to be trained on the failures too, not just the perfect demos. I checked the price, starting at RMB 28,800($4,188). wheeled base + height-adjustable dual arms.Anyone can be built into a household assistant:fetching water, tidying up the kitchen and living room, doing laundry, and more. >Dual arms with 16 DOF, bionic-style structure, capable of relatively fine tasks like grasping and plug-in operations >Adjustable arm height (~70–160 cm), covering both tabletop and standing work >Differential-drive wheeled base, 100 kg payload, simple but well-suited for indoor use, supports working while moving >Open interfaces + teleoperation/data collection. The productivity gains from humanoid robots are going to be enormous, and it reminds me of what Elon Musk said about humanoids and the global economy: “When you think what is an output of an economy, it is productivity per capita times population per capita. Once you have humanoid robots, the actual economic output potential is tremendous. It’s really unlimited. Potentially we can have an economy 10x the size of the current global economy.” We are watching the early stages of a robotics inflection point. A lot is about to change.
