There’s something unique about the Word of God. Researchers had people read different types of books. History. Engineering. The Quran. The Bible. When they studied what was happening in the brain, only one book consistently changed the synapse connections. The Bible. This is why believers throughout history have said the Word of God is alive. It doesn’t just give information. The Holy Spirit uses it to transform us. I’ve been a Christian for 47 years, and I still open my Bible and find the Spirit of God revealing things that stop me in my tracks. Just recently I was reading Hebrews 2 and could barely move on because of what the Lord was showing me. This is what happens when we approach Scripture with hunger and humility. Some people say Christians are happy about war in the Middle East because we want to see Armageddon happen. Nothing could be further from the truth. We want peace. In fact, the Bible specifically tells us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” Our desire is not conflict, but that people across the region would experience freedom—especially the freedom to worship God. We pray for the people of Israel and the people of Iran alike—that there would be a genuine spiritual awakening and that many would come to Christ. After all, so much of the history of the Bible unfolded in that very part of the world, and Scripture tells us that Jesus Himself will one day return to the Mount of Olives. Let’s all do what Scripture calls us to do: pray—for peace, for freedom, and for hearts to turn to God.

It’s not preaching, it’s not teaching. It’s healing. It’s healing people. And that is what we are called to do, whether you’re religious or not, is ensure—ensure that our neighbors have the care that they need. And that is, that is gonna be the end result of this plan and the other health care policies that we’re gonna fight for in Washington: saving the lives of our neighbors, bringing down these costs for all of us so that we can afford to get by in this economy, so we can afford to fulfill our God-given potential. That is the end goal. That is our North Star.

Minister of Justice Sean Fraser was asked about Bill C-9 today and the possibility of the amendment to strip the Criminal Code of the protection for free religious speech in Canada. For the record, here is his full statement. While we appreciate that Minister Fraser thinks that the amendment to strip the good-faith religious text exemption will have no real implication on religious and individual freedom, we respectfully disagree. Among other factors, there would be no reason to strip the exemption at all in the first place if doing so had zero effect of the Criminal Code. We need more consultation on Bill C-9. All Canadians and concerned communities must be heard. We must protect freedom and free expression.
