Kamala Harris: We cannot despair. We cannot despair. The nature of a democracy is such that I think there's a duality. On the one hand, there's an incredible strength when our democracy is intact. An incredible strength in what it does to protect the freedoms and rights of its people. Oh, there's great strength in that. And it is very fragile. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it. And so that's the moment we're in. And I say do not despair because in a democracy, as long as we can keep it, in our democracy the people, every individual has the power to make a decision about what this will be. And so let's not feel powerless. Because then we have been defeated. And that's not our character as the American people. We are not one to be defeated. We rise to a moment and we stand on broad shoulders of people who have fought this fight before for our country. Haerin: Personally, I’m deeply grateful to the people around me who have helped me grow mentally and made me feel alive. I want to continue working with those people going forward. But I truly can’t understand this situation where outside forces are constantly interfering with us and trying to block us. I don’t understand it… and I feel like I’m being forced to try to understand it. What exactly is supposed to be “for our benefit”? What does it even mean to help us grow? I honestly just cannot understand it at all. And why do our fans, our Bunnies, who found comfort in us and built happy, joyful memories together with us, have to go through something like this? Why do they have to worry about things they shouldn’t even have to worry about? I feel so sorry, and it feels like such a waste. On top of that, they even brought up the work that represented the relationship between us and Bunnies… the things that allowed us to coexist and support each other. At this point, we don’t want to hear anything else. And I… I don’t want to conform to, agree with, or follow the values of the society those people belong to. That’s not the direction I believe in at all. That’s why I chose not to go down that path.

It comes from the kind of news they were exposed to and the anger they felt. Holder: You know, they have elections in Russia, and Putin gets 95, 93% of the vote. We’ll continue to have elections here in the US. The question is whether or not the elections that we have here will be meaningful ones—whether the people will actually get the opportunity to express their views on the policy direction of the nation. And so again, it’s all about power—whether it’s gerrymandering, weakening the Voting Rights Act to take power away from people who the people in power now think are not supportive of them. It’s all about the acquisition and the use of power. And that’s one thing that we on the progressive side, on the Democratic side, have got to get used to. It’s not a bad thing for us to say that we want to acquire and use power. Doesn’t mean we’re going to use it in the same way that Republicans and conservatives have—in the negative way that they have done it. But Roosevelt wasn’t afraid of acquiring and using power. Johnson wasn’t afraid of acquiring and using power. That’s what we have to be about. And so, fighting back the way in which Governor Newsom has, and folks in California, by putting together Prop 50, is exactly what we have to do. We’ve got to fight for this.

We have citizens in this city that have been on the waiting list for affordable housing for years, and migrants have been bumped in front of them. I am for my marginalized who have been expect us to give up our parks places in our community for others. We're not saying that there's not room here, but what we are saying is that we are not going to step aside for you to accommodate them when you have continued to leave us out of the equation.
