KASPA'S 2026 PIVOT: PAYMENTS RAIL TO PROGRAMMABLE L1 Kaspa is shifting categories this year. The proof-of-work BlockDAG that runs at 10 blocks per second now has a roadmap pushing it from a fast payments chain into a programmable base layer. Igra Network went live in March as a decentralized EVM execution layer on top of Kaspa, hitting 3,000 transactions per second with 15 protocols deployed at launch and a clean Sigma Prime audit. KAS wraps 1:1 to iKAS as the network's gas token. The Toccata hard fork follows in June. It bundles native KRC-20 tokens, covenants, and zero-knowledge verification opcodes into Layer 1 through a new scripting language called SilverScript. $KAS trades around $0.036 with a $985 million market cap, up 12% on the week. Roughly 95% of the 28.7 billion supply is already mined. DAGKnight consensus is queued for Q3.

KASPA HITS MAJOR MILESTONES IN 2026 AS TOCCATA HARD FORK NEARS AND SUPPLY EMISSION WINDS DOWN Kaspa has stacked a series of milestones over the past year as the network transitions from a payments-focused proof-of-work chain to a programmable Layer 1. The Crescendo hard fork pushed the network to 10 blocks per second, with peak loads exceeding 10,000 TPS. While cumulative on-chain transactions are approaching 2 billion. Founder Yonatan Sompolinsky (Yonatan Sompolinsky) took the Kaspa pitch to the Oxford Union in March, a notable mainstream-academic crossover for a fair-launched community project. The Toccata hard fork hit code freeze on April 15 with mainnet activation targeted between June 5 and June 20. Toccata brings native L1 covenant programming via the SilverScript compiler, ZK verification opcodes, KIP-21 partitioned sequencing, and KRC-20 tokens as a base-layer feature. The supply story compounds the upgrade story. Roughly 95.4% of $KAS is already in circulation, with new emission approaching zero by the end of 2026. $KAS trades near $0.0325 with a market cap of around $888 million, with a near-fully distributed supply heading into its biggest programmability upgrade.

Wait so Stellar has processed 24 BILLION transactions?! Stellar's 2026 resurgence is reflected in its fundamental metrics, the network having now processed a total of 23.8B transactions since launch. Chainspect recently highlighted that $XLM processed some 11.37M txns on July 17 - This is around the entire population of Belgium... With that said, the network is a true OG, having launched around ten years ago, so it has had longer to accrue transaction count than most other major networks.
