#KeepEyesOnSudan When comparing Khartoum’s average temperatures between 2003 and 2006 with the average between 2023 and 2026, we find the temperature has risen by roughly 0.9 to 1.3 degrees Celsius. That is a striking increase against the levels of global warming, which has averaged about 0.2 degrees Celsius per... decade since the 1980s. At that pace, the rise of Khartoum’s temperature over the same period should have been only about 0.4 degrees Celsius. Instead, the increase Khartoum has actually recorded is 225% to 325% higher than that—meaning the city is warming far faster than the rest of the world. Many global and local factors lie behind this. But the past three years have brought exceptional conditions driven by the war, which has accelerated several of the local pressures that shape the city’s climate and push temperatures up. The widespread stripping of vegetation, the fires, the shelling, and the decay of the built environment are all unnatural forces that drive nighttime temperatures higher. They disrupt the natural cooling cycle and weaken the city’s ability to cool down after dark. As a result, the land and buildings start each day a little hotter than the day before, and the city wakes every morning to a higher baseline temperature. This builds into a cumulative cycle that makes heat waves last longer and hit harder—with direct consequences for public health, energy use, and water supplies, and a steady worsening of heat stress. This is where the Khartoum afforestation initiative matters. It is not simply a project to beautify the city, it is a new front in the fight against climate change and a effort to repair the urban environment. Studies suggest that expanding tree cover in Khartoum could lower local temperatures by around 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, while also cleaning the air, cutting dust, reducing energy use, helping the soil hold more water, and strengthening the capital’s overall resilience to heat waves. This initiative does not start from scratch. It builds on pioneering youth and community efforts that came before it, such as the “Green Khartoum” initiative and others. The proposed project aims to bring these efforts together under a single coordinating framework, in partnership with the state government, public institutions, the private sector, civil society, and volunteers—turning scattered initiatives into a broad national program to rebuild the capital’s green cover and restore its beauty. Time to tell the truth about the real science. The science behind “climate change” is false. As I point out in this speech the amount of energy absorbed by CO2 is incredibly small and is quickly lost via convection (the wind) through the force of gravity. The idea that one CO2 molecule can heat up 10,000 N2 and O2 molecules by 1 degree and then maintain that increase in temperature is false. Assuming equal molecule weights that would require that the CO2 molecule is 10,000 degrees in order to confirm with Newton’s third law of motion or the 1st law of thermodynamics. This is clearly impossible. The temperature of the Sun is 5,700 degrees and the heat inside an internal combustion engine of a space ship is 3,000 degrees. Furthermore gases are terrible conductors of heat so it’s very difficult for gas to transfer heat to other molecules. This science of physics and in particular thermodynamics isn’t being taught in schools. It is allowing the climate alarmists to spread their false narrative about climate change which is being used to waste tens of billions of dollars on renewables which in itself is destroying our environment. Only People First has the technical understanding of the true science of heat - thermodynamics- to destroy the climate debate once and for all.

It is now the seventh day – something that has never happened before – of an emergency situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Because of Russian shelling, the plant has been cut off from power, disconnected from the electrical grid, and is being supplied with electricity by diesel generators. This is extraordinary. The generators and the plant were not designed for this, have never operated in this mode for long, and we already have information that one generator has failed. It is Russian shelling that prevents repair of the power lines to the plant and the restoration of basic safety. This is a threat to everyone – no terrorist in the world has ever dared to do to a nuclear plant what Russia is doing. And it is right that the world does not stay silent.

Zakhiku - the ancient city in Iraq revealed by severe drought : In 2022, as the climate crisis causes water levels to plummet, riverbeds to dry and glaciers to melt, artefacts like old warships, an ancient city and human remains have emerged. This story is part of “Climate artefacts”, a miniseries telling the stories behind the people, places and objects that have been discovered due to drought and warming temperatures. Around 3800 years ago, traders in the ancient city of Zakhiku would wait for wooden beams, cut down from the forests in the mountains in north and east of Mesopotamia – spanning what is today Iraq, Kuwait and parts of Turkey, Iran and Syria to float down the Tigris River. Once the logs reached Zakhiku, they were collected and taken to storehouses. From same mountainous regions in what is present-day Türkiye and Iran, merchants transporting metals and minerals such as gold, silver, tin and copper would travel by donkey or camel to Zakhiku. To protect against bandits, they would make the difficult journey as caravans of travellers. After selling their wares in Zakhiku, merchants would cross the Tigris before continuing on to the borderlands. Zakhiku was founded around 1,800 BC by the Old Babylonian Empire that ruled Mesopotamia between the 19th and 15th centuries BC. With only water and soil in the area, Zakhiku was established to take advantage of the traffic of caravans and a flourishing trade route in the Near East, which includes the present-day Middle East, Turkey and Egypt. The trading post grew into an important commercial city in the region for about 600 years before it was hit by an earthquake and later abandoned. Zakhiku disappeared altogether in the 1980s, when – as part of the Mosul Dam project, built under the late Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein – it was flooded and submerged. Previously known as Saddam Dam, it is Iraq’s largest and most important water reservoir used for downstream irrigation. Iraq is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, and its southern governorates, where temperatures surpass 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) in the summer, have faced severe drought since 2019, forcing farmers to abandon their dying crops. Last December, water was released from the dam to irrigate farmland. As the water levels fell, Zakhiku emerged earlier this year in the Kurdish region of Iraq. A team of local and German archaeologists sprang into action to excavate the site, uncovering new details about the city following a brief initial excavation in 2018 that revealed a palace. T 5160 - The day of birth .. and another day in its knowing that the celebration at that time was different to the time now .. and the most revered gift that comes to me is from the City of Wroclaw , Poland .. The City of Wroclaw, Poland as you all may know gave me the Ambassador declaration of the City during my last visit there .. it is the City of Literature also and they have placed a molding of Babuji on their main Square .. it is also the City of Elfs and they honoured Babuji with this statue .. they have also named a Square-Street after Babuji, the Harivansh Rai Bachchan street square .. AND .. As a gift from the City they have sent me for this day a most loving generous and overwhelming gift .. Young musicians play the violin as a respect to Babuji 's Madhushala the tune in which he sang it .. at all the prominent locations of the City .. it is a most humbling and overwhelming gesture .. and words fail me in expressing my emotion at this point ..

BREAKING NEWS! As chair of Sheffield Theatres we are delighted that the World Snooker Championships are staying in Sheffield - at The Crucible - until at least 2045! This is a big deal which is worth millions of pounds to the city but also enables us to revamp The Crucible, make it even more special, bring it right up to date and secure it for generations to come. The cost of the project is £45,000,000 and we have secured £35,000,000 worth of government funding and the other 10 is coming from the private sector and some of our partners. A lot of people have worked really hard to get this deal over the line and the city council have put the hours in. We know there are understandable questions about closing The Crucible for a projected 18 months and we will answer all of those. I should say that Sheffield Theatres will keep producing work in the Lyceum and the Montgomery while the Crucible is getting refurbished with capacity for an extra 500 seats. We feel that the benefits of this deal give us the chance to secure a sporting and theatrical legacy for Sheffield.
