Breaking… Trudeau Liberals declare war on Alberta’s economy by announcing an aggressive oil and gas emissions cap that will likely cost Alberta hundreds of billions of dollars in lost investments. Liberal Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson says the cap level will be 35-38% below 2019 levels in 2030. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith responded that “our province is simply done with what amounts to a steady stream of economic sanctions and punitive measures thrown upon our citizens and businesses to intentionally damage their livelihoods.” Alberta has promised to respond with a “constitutional shield” to protect against this and other hostile actions by Ottawa. What are your thoughts? I personally think this is pushing Alberta straight toward pursuing independence.

Here's a statement from Mitch Sylvestre "We will take pictures of you and then we will put you up on the internet and then we will find you. We will identify you. Then we will charge you. And anyone that tells you to do that, we will charge them as well. We will take every step that we can to protect our people. We are conducting a legal democratic path laid out by the Supreme Court of Canada for Alberta Independence."

Today Premier Doug Ford Doug Ford said one day Alberta might have to give approval for a federal tax on oil and gas headed from Alberta to the United States. I understand our new Prime Minister Mark Carney has mused about the same thing. Let me be clear… Alberta will never agree to such an absurd and self destructive idea. It’s not an option. I’m not going to agree to do something that will cost hundreds of thousands of Albertans (and Canadians) their jobs almost overnight. That would be like placing export tariffs on Ontario auto parts. Also a bad idea. There are many effective ways that Canada and Alberta can work together to pressure the U.S. President to change course on tariffs - THAT is not one of them… period.

CBC is digging up every Liberal rat to bad mouth Alberta. "You asking people to take a look at the Province of Alberta and this is what they are seeing...who is going to put their money into this province." Alberta is leading the country in attracting capital for project and creating full time jobs. Weird how after a lost decade that red taped this country out of hundreds of billions of dollars they don't say the same about Canada and Liberal leadership, besides the record foodbank usage. Also, if she thinks the pipeline to the West Coast would cost $50B and 10 years to build without hypocrisy, maybe don't invite PR people to talk about economics.

No Mark, you are borrowing money, that will cost Canadian taxpayers interest and will need to be paid back, on programs that you hope will generate ROI. In finance, it's called a leverage. He is trying to call this a leverage except that the government won't own any assets with this but hopes to generate additional economic spending that will cover the cost of this spending and the borrowing that will need to be paid back.
