I’ve never been a part of a championship team where the best players weren’t the hardest working and most bought in players on the team. If you want to win, your best players have to lead the way with effort and being a great teammate. Check out Wild superstar Matt Boldy on these clips from yesterday’s game against Detroit. First, he scores a great goal after getting physical and helping to create the turnover. Next he threads a SWEET pass to Kaprizov for the game winner. Then – he gets in front of a one-timer on the ice 6on5 in the dying seconds with a one goal lead. Blocks a bomb from MORITZ SEIDER to seal the win. Minnesota is getting ready to make a run. We value forcing each player into knowing the situation and knowing what the unit must do to achieve success. We are conditioning our players so that their reactions are instinctive, and they can focus on their execution independent of the the situation because they have been in the stressful situation regularly in practice. Value of Situational Practice Periods - Allows coaches to telegraph the type of plays that could be run in a situation. - Allows players to understand the importance of the situation & the consequences associated with the situation. - Allows both players and coaches to be comfortable under pressure. - Another way to have the team compete in every segment of practice.

We don't run some of our plays in the red zone out in the field." - "There is an identity, you definitely have to find out where the defense changes. Is it +30 or +25 where they heat you up. Your call sheet has to resemble what the defense does. So there is a little blend of we do what we do, but we have to know what they do & attack it." Coming Out Philosophy - 2 first downs to change the field - TD to change the game - Freeze to create a free 5 or take a shot - "If they don't jump I'll still probably take a shot and see if we can change the field quickly. - Quick game = no throws into the core of the defense. More out breakers. - Movement Passes - 6 designed coming out plays that are repped week to week.

With a stretch of three consecutive home games early in the season, we decided it was the appropriate time to re-sod our field. This process will begin on Monday with full installation of a new surface completed by the end of the week. Cutthroat 5v5, 4v4 This is a really fast and chaotic game that we got from Team USA. Our team loves it because you have to talk the entire time even when your team is off the floor. Start with 3 or 4 teams: ●One team starts on offense. ●One team starts on defense. ●One or two teams are waiting on the baseline. - Play one possession. -If the offense scores: They stay on offense and earn 1 point. The defense sprints off, and the next team comes on defense. -If the defense gets a stop: They immediately transition to offense. The offense sprints off, and the next team comes on. -The game never stops, so players have to communicate, transition quickly, and be ready to play the second they step on the floor. It’s a great way to create game-like chaos, teach communication, and get players competing at a high pace. Rules: 1. When you score, you must thank the passer. 2. When you pass, you must cut 3. You can limit the amount of dribbles 4. You can say that you must have a paint touch first 5. 10 second shot clock 6. Jump balls always go to defense 7. Defense must talk the entire possession or they get off. 8. Defense has to call the score out when they come on the floor. 9. If the defense gets a live ball turnover above the NBA line they can go score it and get an automatic win.
