The Nigerien delegation’s terms for this reopening were simple: Benin must now choose between its continued subservience to France, and its relationship with the AES. Kelvin Kiarie: I failed to pay for training for three days at Kasarani Stadium, and that’s how I was banned from training there, along with all the other skaters. Now I practice in the basement of my house, yet when I go to compete in places like Singapore or Benin to represent Kenya, I find myself skating in the same kind of stadium as Kasarani, where I’m banned from training.
