Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Deputy Minister for Transport, said: “This week, we engaged with the GPRTU and other transport unions and visited key congested areas. More buses are being deployed, fares will be reduced, and 300 Metro Mass buses will soon join the system, with 100 arriving on 15 February and another 100 by April. Private investors are also supporting these efforts. We are committed to improving transport in Accra. Already, 15 buses have been repaired, and over 135 are operational. Very soon, the public will see the results of our hard work.”

The Kochi Police have initiated action against the operators of the Alina and Shaliva buses following a reported incident of dangerous driving. Two private AC buses caught fire within 10 days, the first in Jaisalmer on 14 Oct and the second in Kurnool today, killing 20 and 19 passengers, respectively. Time to learn one more survival skill in India. Private AC buses usually have only one door, I think the law mandates for one only. The emergency exit is supposed to be there, but in most cases, it’s non-functional. These buses have poor wiring, unauthorized modifications, and plenty of flammable material, enough to give you one of the worst possible deaths. So think before you travel in an AC bus in India. If you have to, check the emergency exits, are they functional or not? Don’t bother asking the govt for better regulations. Itna bada desh, roz hazaaro log marte rehte hain. Who cares if a few more die? Apna bachaav khud karo.

Wow, a bunch of Abdul El-Sayed’s (Dr. Abdul El-Sayed) and Zohran Mamdani’s (Zohran Kwame Mamdani) friends have arrived on Capitol Hill via buses. As you can see in the video below, they were very “happy” to see me. I asked these low-IQ individuals why they aren’t wearing any American flag pins. This question angered them greatly. #WATCH | Thiruvananthapuram: At a press conference, Keralam CM VD Satheesan says, "... In the first cabinet meeting, we decided to implement two of the five guarantees promised during the election. The first is free travel in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses, and the second is to constitute a new department for senior citizens. The free travel scheme will begin on 15 June in all ordinary KSRTC buses, with no age or income limit, and transgenders will also benefit. The government will bear the liability of Rs 750–800 crore and pay this amount to KSRTC."

“We have introduced these Metro buses as a brand-new urban luxury category. Our expectation is that people who come to Colombo will park their vehicles at designated spots and use these buses to enter the city,” Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena said, outlining a strategic “Park and Ride” initiative aimed at reducing urban traffic congestion by targeting private vehicle owners. On Sunday afternoon, in a drive at the Gourkanya Bus Terminus in Malda, names, logos and stickers mimicking those of government buses were removed from several private buses. Many private buses were operating with colour schemes (blue and white) and names resembling those of the state transport corporation. The use of such colours and names was causing confusion among passengers, particularly women. Following an order from the state government, free travel for women on government buses was introduced on 1 June. However, due to the visual similarity between government and private buses, many female passengers were inadvertently boarding private buses and subsequently getting hassled. Some private buses were displaying names like NBTS, MBTSG, and MMT to mimic the name of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC). Additionally, the vehicles were painted blue and white, just like government buses. On Sunday afternoon, Anupam Chakraborty, the regional transport officer (RTO) of the district, arrived at the Gourkanya Bus Terminus with transport department staff. There, misleading logos and stickers were removed from several private buses. Furthermore, markings and text imitating the state transport corporation’s branding were painted over with black ink. Passengers expressed relief at this move by the transport department. They believe that a clear distinction between government and private buses will prevent future confusion and significantly reduce harassment, especially for female passengers. Maloy Karmakar, in charge of the Malda Depot of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation, stated that the blue-and-white colour scheme has been used on NBSTC buses for many years, and the colour of private buses is not within their jurisdiction. However, he noted that female passengers often ask if a bus is a government one; NBSTC buses are painted blue and white as per government regulations, while the RTO office would be the authority to speak on bus colour specifications.
