I don’t think voting against Kevin McCarthy is chaos. I think $33 Trillion in debt is chaos. I think not passing single-subject spending bills is chaos. I think being governed by continuing resolutions and omnibus bills is chaos. Chaos is somebody we cannot trust with their word. That’s why I’ve moved to vacate the chair.

The short-term continuing resolution was not a gimmick or some partisan maneuver. It was a straightforward measure to keep critical services in operation while giving Congress the time we need to finish our work on appropriations bills through regular order. The way we used to do it! We didn’t have to be in the #SchumerShutdown.

The way to fund the government is not by doing it the same way Congress has since the mid-90s, where it's one up or down vote on the entire government all at once. We should have separate single-subject spending bills. Kevin McCarthy promised that in January. He is in breach of that promise. I'm not here to hold the government hostage. I'm here to hold Kevin McCarthy to his word.

That's not a bug in the system. It's a feature. They want to jam us under the time pressure of the government running out of money and the fear of a shutdown so that the lobbyists and special interests who own Kevin McCarthy get to make the decisions.
