“I guess this is what they call a mid life crisis. But to me the crisis was the 9 years that I was really unhappy." Bookmark this video—it's long but worth watching. It's the personal story of an MIT educated neurosurgeon who dedicated his life to his profession... only to realize that he was sold a lie. He realized that for most of his patients surgery didn't help and in fact it often made their problems worse. Over time he observed that the patients who improved did it through lifestyle. This is true in every field of medicine. Our system is broken and has lost sight of a fundamental truth: For most illness (not all, but most) the best medicine is exercise, nutrition, belonging, sunshine, nature, peace. The video is also a powerful commentary on what it means to be "successful" and happy. His story is eerily similar to my own (see the link in the comments below for more). Like this guy, I made it to the top of my profession then walked away with no plan. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. It's a reminder to... Be careful what you chase, because you just might get it. But also... It's never too late to start over.

Members of Iran’s women’s national team made the “Signal for Help” hand gesture on the team bus, a widely recognized sign used by victims of abuse to silently ask for help. Iranians present at the scene tried to prevent their forced return to Iran. And now, those very same players, the ones who made that gesture, have been brought onto state television to deny they ever asked for help and to condemn the actions of Iranians in Australia. This is not a clarification. This is coercion. This is a forced confession, extracted under pressure on their families, the same leverage used to drag these young women back in the first place.

Watching the families of the victims walk out of the courthouse made me sad. I have no doubt AJ is going to destroy their lives and the lives of others now that he’s on this case. Article linked below from before AJ joined the team. Much like Yannetti did with Karen, the previous attorney basically admits this kid did it and he was there “to seek justice, not to have his client freed from any responsibility for the crash.” I have a feeling now that AJ is involved that’s going to change.
