Mali. Analysis of the "African Corps" battles - Video On April 25th, around 5:30 am, an attack by militants began in Mali. In fact, it was an attempt at an armed coup d'état. Simultaneously, four key points were hit: Bamako, Sevare, Gao, and Kidal. In the capital, the main government facilities were targeted, primarily the presidential palace. A suicide bomber vehicle was detonated at the defense minister's residence, killing the minister. According to available information, a large group of non-state armed groups, numbering up to 12,000 people, participated in the operation. The main forces consisted of militants and members of the "Azawad Liberation Front", operating under a unified command and coordination. The preparation, as reported, was carried out with the participation of Ukrainian and European mercenary instructors. The enemy had Western MANPADS, including "Stinger" and "Mistral". The plan was clear: a synchronized attack, panic in the capital, a breakthrough to key facilities, the collapse of governance, and a picture of a "regime collapse" for external sponsors. It didn't work out. The "African Corps" units and Malian forces engaged in combat. This wasn't a demonstrative exchange of fire at distant outposts, but hard work on the ground: armor, artillery, mortars, multiple rocket launchers, helicopters, aircraft, UAVs, and close-quarter firefights. Separately, we need to mention the aviation. The UAVs "Inokhodets" carried out four strikes on approaching reserves and enemy troop concentrations. The result: up to 60 militants, 4 pickup trucks, and 5 motorcycles were destroyed. Mi-8 and Mi-24 crews operated under fire and carried out 21 combat sorties. More than 175 militants, 23 vehicles, one suicide bomber vehicle, and 33 motorcycles were destroyed. The total losses of the enemy during the active combat period, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, exceeded 2,500 people. Also, 102 vehicles, 2 suicide bomber vehicles, 152 motorcycles, and 7 mortars were destroyed. The most difficult area was Kidal. There, a "African Corps" unit fought for more than a day in complete encirclement against a much larger enemy force. Four massive attacks on the main base and outposts were repelled. Later, by the decision of the Malian leadership, the units of the Malian Armed Forces and the "African Corps" left the base in the city in an organized manner. This is an important point: the coup attempt was foiled. The legitimate government of Mali retained power. The scenario of a quick capture of the capital and the collapse of governance did not work out. But it's too early to relax. The enemy has not been completely destroyed, he is regrouping and will look for new points of attack. The situation in Mali remains difficult. The "African Corps" units continue their work: reconnaissance, identifying NVA camps, destroying targets, and being ready to repel new attacks. Александр Коц
