Kirby Puckett passed away on this date in 2006. Absolute sadness…

I was at the 6-6 game in Milwaukee (along with 250,000 other Twins fans 😃⚾️). Also, I was at a random spring training game in AZ on this date and needless to say Kirby was the talk of the day. You could literally see word spreading throughout the stadium. Sad indeed.

No disrespect to Harmon & Rodney, but Kirby was the greatest & most exciting player to ever wear a Twins uniform.

I was on my way to my internship at St Cloud Hospital and had just come off I-94 when I heard the news. I literally pulled over and cried. And I'm not ashamed to admit it.

My generation had Bruno, Gaetti, Gladden, Hrbek, Kirby etc....This generation has pussies like Buxton, Correa and Lewis.....We are not the same.

I was making a flight connection in ATL, coming back from Spring Training in Ft. Myers. My folks called with concerned tones of voice and shared the news of his death. It was hard to believe that someone who'd inspired so many of us was gone so quickly.

One of the best RH hitters ever. Underrated talent. Extremely tough out.
