🇮🇳This is Shiva Keshavan, India's trailblazing Winter Olympian.⁣ ⁣ India may not have won a medal at the Winter Olympics... yet... but they have some pioneering athletes.⁣ ⁣ Shiva is one of them. At just 16 years old, he became the youngest male Olympic athlete to compete in luge, a super fast-paced downhill race on a tiny sled, with no brakes. ⁣ ⁣ But, as the BBC's Ella Hubber has been finding out, his journey was far from easy.⁣ ⁣ Without any luge infrastructure in India, Shiva decided to take up the sport using makeshift tracks and sleds built in his garage.⁣ ⁣ His parents were able to scrape together the funds to send him to his first Winter Olympics at Nagano, Japan, in 1998, where he was India's only athlete.⁣ ⁣ Shiva went on to compete at another five Olympics but never made it onto the podium. Today, John Carpenter and longtime band mates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies share a second track from ‘Cathedral’ - a project that marks Carpenter’s highly anticipated return to the realm of audio/visual narrative storytelling. Following previously shared track “Lord of The Underground”, today we share the grinding and dramatic track “The Ferryman”, along with imagery from the graphic novel. Johnson @iamtweezy904 The project spans a new album set for release August 7th on Sacred Bones Records alongside his first ever graphic novel, set for release August 4 via Storm King Comics. In a story rich with River Styx iconography, “The Ferryman” scores a scene in which we encounter the subterranean character of the same name. “I like that one because it really seems to feature all three of us in a special way,” Davies says. “It has interesting harmonies that Cody put together and John’s signature pad-style string parts. It’s more of an electronic metal track in a way, but we just wanted to make it as heavy and driving as possible.” Designed as a fully immersive project, ‘Cathedral’ functions as both soundtrack and narrative engine: each track aligns with a chapter of the graphic novel, with liner notes guiding listeners through the story. This place is the ultimate parihar sthala for Rahu Ketu Sarpa Dosha Nivarana. Named after 3 devotees of Shiva- a snake, spider and elephant who worshipped a lingam in the forest. Elephant did jal abhishek with water from its trunk, spider protected it from dust by weaving a web on it and snake adorned it with his jewel. Once, the web and jewel got washed away when elephant sprayed water on the lingam. Angered snake entered elephant’s trunk and bit him but died in the process. The agitated elephant trampled the spider accidentally. Shiva gave moksha to all three. Hence the name-Sri for Spider, kaal for snake n hasti for elephant. Shiv bhakt Kanappa is said to have plucked his own eye to put it on the lingam here when he saw blood oozing from the eye on the lingam.
