#WATCH | Assam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu across River Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati. The 6-lane extradosed Prestressed Concrete (PSC) bridge, built at a cost of around Rs 3,030 crore, connects Guwahati with North Guwahati and is the first extradosed bridge in Northeast India. It will cut travel time between Guwahati-North Guwahati to 7 minutes. Considering the high seismicity of the region, the bridge incorporates base isolation technology using friction pendulum bearings. High-performance stay cables have been used to ensure durability and long-term structural performance. A Bridge Health Monitoring System (BHMS) has also been incorporated for real-time condition monitoring, early damage detection and improved safety and service life of the extradosed bridge. Congress built 3 major bridges across the Brahmaputra in 60 years. BJP has built 9, with 5 more in the pipeline, in ten years. That single comparison captures everything. The Bogibeel Bridge — conceived in 1985, delayed for thirty years under Congress, inaugurated by Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji in 2018. The Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge — at cost of₹4,997 crore, 19 km across the Brahmaputra, will cut travel distance from 200 km to 19 km. The Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu cut travel time from North Guwahati to the city from 90 minutes to 15 minutes. We are building India's first road-cum-rail tunnel under the Brahmaputra — the Gohpur-Numaligarh Tunnel, Cabinet-approved in February 2026, which will cut a 6-hour journey to under 20 minutes. It was conceptualised way back in 1963, project report prepared in 2013 and finally ready today. Well done all.. esp Devendra Fadnavis whose been a driving force in the project execution 👍.

How can such blatant corruption happen in Nalanda district, that too right under the CM’s nose? The condition is so bad that just half an inch of tar has been laid directly over loose soil. Strict and exemplary action must be taken against the contractor and the responsible engineers.
