Left-wing protest organisers claimed it was the police on Sunday who were violent. Police Association boss Wayne Gatt rightly calls these claims rubbish. Protestors who carry bottles of broken glass into our CBD have no intention of demonstrating peacefully - yet these are the kinds of protests Jacinta Allan allows to occur week in, and week out in Melbourne’s CBD. Enough is enough. A Liberals and Nationals Government will restore police funding and bring back move-on powers to keep our city safe, and introduce a protest registration system to ensure protests don't get out of control. Being pelted with rocks and bottles isn’t free speech, it’s criminal violence. And it must be stopped.
