THE MOST IMPORTANT Q&A OF MEDIA DAY. Mariana: You came from a very solid weekend on top of everything, but at the same time, it seems that you don't feel that the team is listening to you. Am I right? And how do you balance that? Lewis: I feel like we're going in the right direction. Rome wasn't built in one day, so it takes time to build. For me, coming into the team, I wanted to be respectful of the way they've done things in the past and just to really observe and see where our strengths and where our weaknesses are and to highlight where our weaknesses are and areas that we need to work on. But I do feel that they've been responding. I think you're starting to see, hopefully, some of the impact of the work that we're doing in the background and also into next year's car. This is a car that I've had nothing to do with in terms of developing this car over the years. Hopefully, from next year, my input goes into that car, and that will be a car that I've hopefully been a part of or will have been a part of developing. But I think we've got a really great rapport. I think we're really progressing, particularly since the summer break. I think things have started to get better, and it's all just about building trust and communication. Also, I'm coming into a team that English is not the first language, and I don't speak Italian, so it's finding a common ground. And the fact is we all want to win. We're all here to achieve the same thing, and we've got to just keep pushing. So that's why I'm trying to keep everyone motivated on difficult weekends, trying to keep everyone lifted up. But there have been many, many things we've changed this year that I suggested that they hadn't done in the past, and so they have been listening. It doesn't change straight away, just like that. It takes time to build. And as engineers, they really need proof. They need numbers. That's what they work on. So you have to sometimes push to get certain changes to be made, and then when you change it and then it works, you're like, okay. Mariana: That's what I was talking about.. Lewis: Yeah! - F1 2025 Mexico -

lando asked whether his relationship with oscar changed: “it's still the same. and i think we both are happy that that's how it is. it's because we both have a lot of respect for one another and we both understand the position that we're in. and we both treat the world of driving versus just personally what we're like away from the track, quite differently. that's how i've always been. i feel like i've always gone on well with my teammates since go-karting. i've always wanted to because it just makes my life more fun, more enjoyable and that's also why i'm here. it's because i love what i do, so the more i can do that, the better. but we still just very much understand that we're here, we work for mclaren, we want the best for the team. we work very hard and as drivers always do, you try and maximize your own performance more than anything. but then when we step out of the car, we can still have a joke. we still have laughs in our debriefs, and we still enjoy everything away from the track. so, no i think it's still better than ever in many ways. i think we're still very different people. he's very just calm down to earth, very relaxed, always looks just cool, and that's something i also admire quite a bit, is how just plain sailing he is with a lot of things. it's a good attribute to have. always hard to read what mood he's in, but i think probably for me, you see more visually kind of the moods i'm in. but otherwise, it's not like we go play golf together and do things like i have done with carlos, daniel i didn't play golf with. but we're still different people, but in terms of relationship, we get along well. we still work together well and i think it's still better than it's ever been”

“what do you guys like and admire about each other, whether that's as drivers or as human beings?” lando: “i think what i like about him, just his general attitude of how he approaches everything. i said i think a few weeks ago, but just always pretty calm, pretty relaxed in every situation, stays cool. that's something i admire, and i think it's something that at times i wish i was a little bit more like, but everyone does their own thing. you always try and find what works best for you. but it's all things from every driver, even when i was growing up, that you admire from him, admire from him, and don't like in him, don't like in him, whatever it may be. but i think also the most important thing is just how you get on personally. i've always got on well with my teammates. it's easy not to, it takes one decision to make everything not be the way it is. i think that's something we've done well. it obviously makes our life hard as a team, because we have two drivers fighting for a championship instead of one, and that also has its complications at times, and its difficulties allows for other parties to enter the chat more often. yeah we're still happy that we're both up there, and i think how we've worked together, how we just treat each other, whether it's on the track, off the track, whatever it may be, is just a good way of approaching everything. not everyone would agree with it, which is completely acceptable and understandable, but i think we both have a similar approach in terms of just wanting to go on track, prove who's better, try and drive the quickest, but also come off and enjoy our life when the helmet's off, when it's just us as people, us as personalities, and i think that's something that i have a lot of respect for and i enjoy, i think, and i'll look back on in 10 years' time and say the same thing” oscar: “yeah i mean his car collection, i'm trying to catch up (?) 😄 but no, i mean i think honestly, similar things. i think it's nice that we are able to leave what happens on track, on the track, and be friendly off the track. i think it's, like lando said, it's very easy for it to not be that way, and that definitely takes cooperation from both parties. so yeah, i think for me that's probably what i mean, admire sounds a bit strong in teammates, but i think that is a very good strength of lando’s”

Q: It must be complicated, when I listen to you, to have a private life, somebody to understand your passion and to share this moment. Lewis: "It really is, especially I would say more so today than ever before, which is the way the world is, you know. I look at the other drivers and I wonder how they're doing it. You know, some are having kids and some married, some, you know, most of them girlfriends. I did that when I was in my 20s, but I took a decision to really to maximize my time that I have here because it's not as long as you think and it's limited, you know. And I don't want to look back and be like, ah, if I just gave a little bit more here, I didn't sacrifice my time because I was committed elsewhere." "So I really focused in these last, you know, particularly these last 10 years, like get everything I can out of my performance. Then when I retire, then I can do whatever I want. You know, I can dedicate my time to whatever else it is and not have to worry." "But in this competition time, focus on health, well-being, my mental health, my driving technique, being as good an engineer as I can be, and also being the best teammate that I can potentially be for the guys that I get to work with. That's my sole focus. You know, I want to win." "I've been fortunate enough to win with great teams in the past. Particularly, obviously, with Mercedes and with McLaren, which was incredible. And my dream is to win a championship with Ferrari." "And that's something that hasn't been done for a while. But they have absolutely every ingredient that's needed to win. It's just like getting all the pieces of the puzzle in the right place. And that's what I'm trying to work on in the background with Fred and the whole team." [📹 VIGNERON GAETAN]

“What did you think of Lando being booed at race because people and I've seen it online as well say he doesn't deserve the title because McLaren favored him over his teammate. Do you think that's total nonsense?” Jacques Villeneuve: “That's a little bit ridiculous. When there was some booing in some races, that was embarrassing. You should never boo a driver that's clean, doesn't do anything dirty, on track is respectful, and on top of it is super fast. What's wrong with people? That was embarrassing. And, had it been that Piastri was a second a lap faster than him and somehow Lando was winning because a lot of things were happening, his car breaking down every time, then you could start thinking, okay, that's really not cool. That's not fair. But that wasn't the case. And in the second half, Norris has been faster right at the beginning as well, last year as well. So there's this whole middle of the season where Piastri was driving a lot better than Norris and was getting the points. Norris had an engine blowing up, not Piastri. And so those fans, they don't look at that either. You have to look at the whole picture, at the whole season. And suddenly if your favorite is starting to go backwards, you just got to bite the bullet and accept it. Your favorite is just going backwards. That doesn't mean that the other one is treated better or the other one is undeserving just because the one you're a fan of is not winning right now. That’s really wrong. If you're a fan of the sport, then you have to be a fan of the sport and understand when your driver is maybe not cutting it at this point in time, even though he was before and he will in the future again. It's all a question of timing. But that's the price we have to pay now with social media and how big F1 has become. It's very passionate. The people are passionate and once, you know, fans come from fanatism, you stop thinking, when you get in that mindset and it happens to all of us. You want something so much that you get attached and you cannot - it's hard to start seeing reality. So you will try to mold the reality to your thought process and if your champion is not winning then it cannot be his fault. It has to be something from the outside. It has to be the team destroying his chance or not favoring and so on and so on and so on. But there's nothing concrete behind those comments. It's pure fandom and it'll always be like this. And ultimately it's not a bad thing. You know drivers at that - sportsman at that level have to grow a thick skin. If not, you don't deserve to be there. You just have to have a thick skin because they're all very happy to get the compliments. They love it when it's just positive, but it gets balanced out with negatives and you need to be able to take and accept the negatives as well. It goes both ways. You cannot have the good. You just have to be a thick skin and know that it's part and parcels of what's going on. And in one month, it will be forgotten and maybe everything will change and it be the other driver that suddenly will be criticized and so on. So, it's just that's just the way it is.”

🇫🇷 PRX alecks: "To quote Ilia [something], you have to grow as people as well so that you can accept criticism. To stick together for this long, you have to make sure that everyone is progressing together, and I think that's a very difficult thing to do, and we managed to do that" zhobiii asks alecks what has kept PRX so consistent and adaptable across different metas, and which evolution of the team has been his favorite: "I think we've always tried to play the game our way. I think that's a big part of it. Also, the boys put a lot of trust in the coaching staff. It's been an honor to coach these guys. I'm very, very proud of them and they have managed to evolve as players and as people, and I think that's a very commendable thing. That's allowed them to go past metas again and again. To quote Ilia [something] because he's said this before in one of our team talks, you have to grow as people as well so that you can accept criticism. To stick together for this long, you have to make sure that everyone is progressing together, and I think that's a very difficult thing to do, and we managed to do that. And because of that, I know it's an out-of-game thing, but I think it affects how we look at the game and how we approach every situation, win or lose. We have had bad losses before and we're still here. We've learned from all these experiences. As my favorite meta, no matter what, it would be 2023 Champs when I could see Jinggg play Raze at high speed because he could really satchel really far, so we could make the most creative plans from it. After that, I think watching something play Yoru was a very pleasurable thing to witness at least too."

The lack of perceived value of the LIV Golf League and its teams has attracted a lot of attention over the past few years. But Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC have been one of the most successful franchises and he says they’ve cleared more than $20 million in revenue: “I'll tell you from our side of the coin, that the Crushers have been doing very well. We hired a GM and we’re hiring more people this year, but it's slow. I'm not over expanding too quick, like some teams, and I feel like we're a lean, mean machine. It's done great and we've been having positive EBITDA, positive for the past few seasons and our revenue is above $20 million, which is amazing. And next year it's going to be even more. “So, I'm pretty pumped about our team, and what we have the capability of doing. You know me, I'm always optimistic. I always want to see the best in people, and want to see how to create the most value. So, all I can speak for is how I run the team and what we've done economically for the team has been.. quite amazing. “You know, it’s been a lot of work, but I'm personally stoked for how my GM is running the team and how we we're running as, you know, I can be quite honest, we're doing the best out of any team. So, I'm really, really happy about that. And, I wouldn't be doing this any other way.” The $20 million figure caught me off guard, and I’m sure it will many others. Especially with so much being reported about the lack of revenue within the league. This once again proves Bryson’s value and highlights the strong position he is in with his contract negotiations. While we’re on contacts, is Bryson bringing back Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri to Crushers GC in 2026? “Yes, the same guys are coming back. Yeah, I love them to death and they're great people, great golfers.” And while we talk about changes, does Bryson think LIV Golf could improve on anything? “Yeah, I mean, there’s plenty of things that the PGA Tour could improve on, right? And I can go through a bucket of that with that tour, and I could do the same with LIV, right? “Nobody's perfect. No organisation's perfect. But I could tell you that the opportunities at LIV and the ability to grow team golf is so intriguing and so interesting to me that that's where I stake my home and ground there. It’s where I want to be, but ultimately, it's got to make sense for everybody. Because I could just do YouTube golf and be totally fine as well.” He went on develop that answer when asked about whether he thinks a deal to renew his contact could be completed before the first event of the LIV Golf League season in Riyadh, in February: “I don't know about before Riyadh, there's a lot of things to go through.. You know, it's a scenario that is very unique. With Brooks leaving it definitely throws in some unique things. And look, I mean, like I've said all along, I want to do this, I want to grow team golf across the globe. But it has to be right. And there's a lot of things that have to be done in order for it to be right, you know? “Things have got to change. Things have got to improve. And I think Scott's done a fabulous job with the year that he's had. And I think this year's going to be even better, now he's got the right people in place and he can run the organisation, the way he wants to do this here. So it's going to be interesting to see, especially with the new branding coming on. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. “I don't run this thing at all. I don't really have much say to be honest with you. Which is funny, but it is what it is, right? And, you know, I sometimes wish I had more say, but that's life and I don't run the organisation and I trust them to do that. “Ultimately, I just go play golf and try to entertain as best as I possibly can. So I trust Scott and Katie and Chris, everybody there to make the right decisions and continue to go forward with that. And we'll see what the year has in store for us.” Bryson DeChambeau
