Once again, there was a targeted attack specifically on energy facilities – the Russians used a significant number of ballistic missiles in combination with other missiles, more than 70 missiles in total, as well as 450 attack drones. The strikes hit Sumy and Kharkiv regions, Kyiv region and the capital, as well as Dnipro, Odesa, and Vinnytsia regions. As of now, nine people have been reported injured as a result of the attack. There is damage to ordinary residential buildings and energy infrastructure. In Kyiv, drone strikes caused fires in high-rises and damaged a kindergarten. All necessary services have been deployed wherever possible. Taking advantage of the coldest days of winter to terrorize people is more important to Russia than turning to diplomacy. And this very clearly shows what is needed from our partners and what can help. Timely delivery of missiles for air defense systems and the protection of normal life are our priority. In every city, in every community, you are restoring light, heating, and water supplies in harsh weather conditions. This is extremely hard work, but it is precisely this kind of effort that strengthens our country’s internal resilience and supports our positions in diplomacy. The situation in the energy system remains difficult, but we are doing everything we can to restore all services as quickly as possible. And last night, over 200 strike drones were launched against us. The Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions came under attack. Dozens of people have been injured, including a child. As of now, two people have been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. This week alone has seen more than 1,300 attack drones, around 1,050 guided aerial bombs and 29 missiles of various types in total. That is why Ukraine still needs more protection – above all, more missiles for air defense systems. If Russia is deliberately dragging out the diplomatic process, the world’s response must be decisive: more assistance for Ukraine and more pressure on the aggressor. And it is this shortage of ballistic missile interceptors that only encourages Russia to launch such attacks that take human lives.
