Last weekend, we shutdown salons that were operating inside this building, known as Navy House, in the Pretoria CBD. We heard that some had resumed operating without obtaining valid trading licences. We were back today, to ensure only registered salons were operating. City of Tshwane

We conducted an inspection at this sports bar that we shutdown last year because a brothel was being operated inside the building . We’ve successfully managed to kill any form of business linked to sex trade. No women were found. Instead, we closed the premises again for failure to comply with fire and safety regulations. First we disconnected electricity and water for properties that are illegally built, with some occupied by hundreds of tenants. Reducing rental space is key component of ensuring the city spends money on things that matter - service delivery. This morning, we joined the City’s Bad Buildings operation in Proclamation Hill. We inspected a property operating an illegal panel-beating business and discovered approximately 50 alcohol bottles, raising concerns of possible illegal liquor sales. Building Control issued a 21-day notice for unauthorised building structures. Our Energy and Electricity Business Unit removed illegal electricity connections, while our Water and Sanitation Business Unit removed an illegal water connection. The City remains committed to enforcing by-laws to ensure that private properties aren’t used to hide unlawful activities. City of Tshwane
