On May 8th, CGN New Energy's 100 MW/200 MWh shared energy storage power station in Yuanjiang, Yunnan Province, successfully achieved full-capacity grid connection and power generation. During a meeting with Prime Minister of Romania Ilie Ilie Bolojan, we discussed defense support. I thank Romania for its military assistance and contributions to the PURL initiative. Strengthening air defense is a priority for Ukraine. It is important to develop the energy network between our countries, which will help Ukraine amid shortages caused by ongoing Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure, and also support Romania when we have a surplus and can export electricity. Therefore, cooperation in the energy sector was also a key topic of our discussion. Particular attention was given to expanding border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania. We also discussed work on an intergovernmental agreement on joint oversight at the Ukraine–Romania border crossings. I thank Ilie Bolojan for the meeting and for his support of Ukraine.

In New York, I met with executives from leading U.S. energy, finance, and insurance companies, as well as U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Samantha Power and U.S. Michael J. Rigas Richard Verma. The primary focus was on preparing Ukraine's energy system for the winter. We discussed our plans in detail, as well as the possibility of implementing joint projects in the energy sector. I held a meeting with Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė – this is her first foreign visit, and it is very meaningful that it is to Ukraine. A true sign of support. We discussed everything that is now critically important: continued defense assistance, joint weapons production, and investments in Ukraine’s defense industry. We also spoke separately about the energy sector. Winter is ahead, and Russia continues to intensify its aerial terror and strikes against our cities – therefore, strengthening our air defense remains a top priority. We also discussed Lithuania’s participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction and its assistance in building shelters in schools and kindergartens. Lithuania’s readiness to contribute to the PURL initiative and to join the SAFE instrument is important.
